10 MCU Projects We Think Are Definitely In Kevin Feige's 2026-2042 Plan

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been planned out for the next 16 years, and here are 10 projects we definitely think are part of that roadmap. Marvel's future plans were teased by Kevin Feige, who stated that, while not set in stone, he and his collaborators at Marvel Studios have mapped out projects all the way up until 2042. Given the sheer scale of the MCU's many movies and shows, especially since 2021, it would be nearly impossible to guess every single project Feige and his team have talked about.

That said, there are some that seem more obvious than others. It has already been revealed that the upcoming Marvel movies will build to a soft reboot of sorts, with 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars being the catalyst. Feige has already insisted that the MCU post-Secret Wars will be much more streamlined, offering new characters and their projects to come to the fore. Be it the planned focus on the X-Men or any other lingering MCU ideas of recent years, here are 10 of the many Marvel projects that will almost certainly be part of the franchise's next 16 years.

10 Black Panther 3

Starting with one of the more obvious MCU projects of the next few years, we have Black Panther 3. The first two Black Panther stories are among some of the MCU's best movies, with active development on the third picking up steam in recent years. It has already been confirmed that Ryan Coogler will once again be writing and directing the movie, though plot details and casting details are being kept under wraps for now. Regardless, with Coogler confirming it is his next movie after 2025's Sinners, Black Panther 3 is expected as early as 2028.

9 Doctor Strange 3

As is the case with Black Panther 3, Doctor Strange 3 is one of the easier projects to predict for the MCU's future. Doctor Strange remains one of the MCU's best characters, with the ending of his second movie in 2022 teasing a promising future. While it remains to be seen what role Strange will play in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, he is at least expected to be a big part of one, if not both, of the upcoming movies.

Naturally, this would position Doctor Strange for an MCU future beyond Avengers: Secret Wars. It is unlikely that Marvel Studios will stop working with Benedict Cumberbatch given both his star power and how beloved his MCU character has become. Combined with the introduction of a major character from the source material, Clea, in Strange's last movie and the Sorcerer Supreme's knowledge of the multiverse, the next few years will be big for the hero, almost certainly leading to his third solo installment.

8 Nova

A Marvel project that has been in various stages of early development over the last decade or so is Nova. Nova is a hero belonging to the eponymous Nova Corps, showcased in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, and one of the many cosmic Marvel characters that audiences have been longing to see in his own project. Evidently, Marvel Studios wishes for the same thing, given the rumors and reports over the years that its creatives are trying to get either a movie or TV show off the ground.

Moving beyond the story of Avengers: Secret Wars, there is no better time to introduce Nova. With a soft reboot imminent, Nova is the perfect character to reintroduce the cosmic side of the MCU in a new way. After all, the last 20 years of Marvel have focused on the Guardians of the Galaxy as the main cosmic heroes of the franchise, meaning the expansive stories of the Nova Corps were left largely unexplored. Using Nova as a vehicle to do this, be it in TV or film format, almost certainly positions Nova as one of Feige's teased projects.

7 Spider-Man 5 & 6 (At The Least)

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's 2026 release is a big deal for the titular Web-Slinger. Yes, it will provide the Spidey goodness audiences have desired from Tom Holland's version of the character, but it is clearly setting up the hero for more MCU adventures. Spider-Man will always be one of the MCU's biggest hitters from a box office perspective, with Brand New Day exemplifying that. Therefore, the chance of Spider-Man: Brand New Day being the MCU's last ever Spidey project is as close to zero as it could possibly get. In fact, Feige himself teased as much.

In the very same interview that teased the MCU's 2042 roadmap, the Marvel boss revealed what could be to come for Spider-Man; Feige revealed that he and Amy Pascal, the main Sony producer of the franchise, have already planned "what the next two, three, four, or five Spider-Man movies might be." This comes after multiple comments from Pascal, Holland, and Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton that support the idea that Spider-Man's MCU future is all but guaranteed. Spider-Man is one of the world's most popular IPs for a reason, and the MCU will undoubtedly continue to capitalize on that.

6 A Live-Action Miles Morales Movie

Stemming from this, one way Marvel Studios and Sony can capitalize on more Spider-Man movies is by making one centering on Miles Morales. Easily the most successful of Sony's own Spider-Man movies are the Spider-Verse installments, with Amy Pascal suggesting she would love to show Miles Morales in live-action one day. The same can be said for Tom Holland and Kevin Feige, who both want Miles Morales to appear in the MCU's future. With this in mind, and the next decade of Spider-Man movies seemingly planned out, a Miles Morales movie will almost certainly be part of the MCU before 2042.

5 Blade

A Marvel movie that was announced but subsequently stuck in development hell is Blade. Originally set to be part of the MCU's Multiverse Saga, starring Mahershala Ali, Kevin Feige's failed Blade reboot never came to fruition. Still, though, Blade remains a movie that Marvel would like to make. After 2027 and the reboot of the series, a clearer sandbox could pave the way for the Daywalker to become an MCU mainstay. Whether this has Ali in the role or not, Blade is surely an MCU movie we will see in the next decade and a half.

4 Deadpool 4

The most successful MCU movie since 2021 is Deadpool & Wolverine, which grossed over $1.5 billion back in 2014. With Deadpool and the wider X-Men franchise now firmly under Marvel Studios' command, it is highly unlikely that 2024's movie was the last we will see of Ryan Reynolds as the character. If, indeed, the X-Men become as big a focus in the MCU as has been teased, Deadpool will be a part of this. After all, Deadpool's meta edge would offer a great way for Marvel to poke fun at a potential reboot.

3 Shang-Chi 2

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is one of the more critically acclaimed Marvel movies in the Multiverse Saga. The character is also being brought back for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, priming him for a big role in the next few years. This makes the chances of a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings even higher, especially given it has been in development for almost five years.

Destin Daniel Cretton, who has recently been working on Wonder Man and Spider-Man: Brand New Day for the MCU, has been confirmed to be working on a sequel to Shang-Chi since the movie's release. With the character only growing more popular since the first movie and a big role coming in two Avengers movies, the sequel to Shang-Chi will likely be released alongside Black Panther 3 and Doctor Strange 3 as MCU mainstay projects being released after the franchise's reboot.

2 Standalone X-Men Movies

As has been alluded to several times, Kevin Feige has mentioned that the MCU will lean into the mutant era, especially after 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine. The return of X-Men movie characters in Avengers: Doomsday continues this, and it is unlikely to stop after Avengers: Secret Wars. Many rumors have indicated that the mutants will be the primary focus of the franchise post-Secret Wars, meaning plenty of X-Men movies will be part of the MCU's future.

Marvel Studios could begin treating the X-Men characters like those from the Avengers, setting each one up in individual, standalone stories. To introduce the younger generation of X-Men to the MCU, standalone movies based on Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Deadpool, Marvel Girl, Professor X, Magneto, and many more iconic mutants are likely. These could then culminate in numerous big event-style movies between now and 2042, replicating the success Marvel Studios had with The Avengers and its many sequels.

1 X-Men: Age Of Apocalypse

One of these event-style X-Men movies could be Age of Apocalypse, based on the comic book run of the same name. This run from the 1990s is one of the more famous in the X-Men's history, as they race to undo an alternate reality in which Apocalypse rules over everyone. Apocalypse has only been introduced in live-action once, in 2016's admittedly forgettable X-Men: Apocalypse. Instead of being a one-off villain, having a whole saga dedicated to setting up and taking down Apocalypse could be amazing, much like the MCU has done with Thanos.

As one of the most iconic comic book stories, which includes one of the most iconic Marvel villains, Age of Apocalypse is surely something Marvel Studios will adapt in the future. Not only could it serve as a massive payoff to the first leg of the Mutant era that will hopefully begin with Avengers: Secret Wars, but it could be even more epic than anything ever done in the MCU. With the X-Men increasingly taking center stage, it would be a massive surprise if an Age of Apocalypse project was not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe before 2042.
