8 Fast & Furious Characters Who Need To Return In The Upcoming TV Series
For decades, Fast & Furious has been one of the biggest movie series around, going from humble beginnings to a franchise that has made more than $7 billion at the box office. Originally, the films were relatively low-stakes yet entertaining racing thrillers, but they quickly evolved into must-see blockbuster events featuring some of the biggest actors around.
Fast & Furious traded realism for over-the-top stunts and international crime — a gamble that paid off massively. The shift to nonstop action sequences and life-threatening missions helped the IP grow bigger than anyone expected, as evidenced by Fast & Furious celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026.
Sure, Fast X's underwhelming box office haul suggests the franchise may be past its peak, but despite Fast & Furious 11 supposedly ending the main saga, there is still plenty of life in this universe. Not only has it launched video games and made its way into theme parks, but Fast & Furious has also transitioned to TV.
Fast & Furious Spy Racers debuted in 2019 and has had six seasons, but a new live-action TV show is on the way, which could be huge. While details on the project remain limited, it seems like this will be a major release for the action series, and these eight characters absolutely need to return when it debuts.
Isabel Neves (Daniela Melchior)
As the sister of Elena Neves, Isabel has the potential to be a big character in the Fast & Furious franchise. However, with only one appearance to her name, her journey is only getting started, proving why she should be part of the upcoming TV show.
Since debuting in Fast Five, Elena has been a recurring character and ally of the main heroes, making her death a big deal. It set the stage for Isabel to take over, and given she's a Brazilian street racer who now has connections with Dom, there is undoubtedly room for her to grow into a central character.
Unfortunately, outside her race with Dom, Dante, and Diogo, Isabel hasn't been involved in too much action, instead acting as an ally for Dom to save numerous times. Clearly, she has much more to offer, but with Fast & Furious 11 set to have such a stacked cast, it's hard to see where she fits in.
This makes the TV series the perfect chance to bring back Isabel and develop her properly. Considering Daniela Melchior has established herself as a big star, it would make the show even more appealing to skeptical viewers, making her return a no-brainer.
Queenie (Helen Mirren)
Queenie is easily one of the best recent additions to Fast & Furious, making it no surprise she has featured regularly. The entire Shaw family is full of great characters who all deserve to return, as both Owen and Hattie Shaw could make big impacts upon their return, but they have had stints as central characters.
In contrast, Queenie has always played a supporting role, and she is long overdue for more time in the spotlight. Helen Mirren delivers a truly memorable performance, as despite Queenie looking like an unassuming older lady, she has an extensive wrap sheet and can drive supercars just as erratically as the main heroes and villains.
With Mirren currently involved in Mobland, she's clearly open to televised projects, and the Fast and Furious show would be something fresh. Seeing Queenie interact with new characters and continue bringing comedy to this action-packed world would therefore be a treat, making it an opportunity the series shouldn't overlook.
Leon (Johnny Strong)
Making his first appearance in 2001's The Fast and the Furious, Leon is one of the few impactful characters from the first movie who is still alive, yet we haven't seen him since other than a small cameo in Fast Five and a flashback sequence in Fast & Furious 6. Leon was part of Dom's original crew alongside Vince and Jesse.
While the other two members died, Leon is still alive and kicking, but we don't know what became of him after Fast Five. It makes more sense for him to appear in Fast & Furious 11 since it's the end of an era, but even if this full-circle moment does happen, a role in the TV show could still be on the cards.
It just feels wrong to have this OG character around in the background who we barely know anything about, and it would be a waste for the series to forget about him completely. Therefore, it only seems logical to give him a significant part in the show so we can learn more about him, which would cement Leon as an F&F legend.
Suki (Devon Aoki)
As the Fast and Furious saga has continued to unfold, Dom's crew has recruited more and more people with combat or technological experience that just so happen to be pros behind the wheels, leaving true petrol heads like Suki behind. She never actually met Dom and was instead caught up with Brian and Roman in 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Suki was bold enough to follow Brian's risky driving strategy during a street race, finishing in second place behind the once protagonist. Later in the movie, she helped Roman and Brian by taking some of the heat from the police off them and placing it on herself, showing she is a true maverick with a love for racing.
Sadly, she hasn't appeared since. However, Suki was a target on Dante's list in Fast X, suggesting she could appear in the final movie, but a TV appearance may be more fitting. Assuming Dom's crew stop Dante before he can enact his revenge, saving Suki's return for a more meaningful role in the upcoming series would hit harder.
If familiar faces like Roman and Tej are involved, it could make for a nice reunion. If not, learning about what she has been doing all these years and getting more insight into her background and personality would be a nice alternative, given she remains a memorable character over 20 years since her debut.
Tess (Brie Larson)
Any excuse to get a household name like Brie Larson involved in a project is worth looking into, but having her character feature in the Fast and Furious show actually makes sense. Tess only made her debut in the latest movie, but for a new character, she played quite a significant role, which will likely be the case again in the follow-up.
This makes her a prime candidate to carry the franchise in the future, since it will almost certainly continue through spinoffs, and while Larson is better suited to the big screen, a TV appearance could establish Tess as the next Dom Toretto.
We've seen enough of Fast & Furious bringing back dead characters, and now is the time to focus on the future. Therefore, giving Tess the chance to return and potentially star in the upcoming series would be the best way of getting to know her even better, while giving the IP a chance of continuing beyond the main crew.
Sean Boswell (Lucas Black)
Considering Sean Boswell has been the main protagonist of a Fast & Furious movie, it's only natural to assume that he'd have a pretty influential role in the saga's overall story. Unfortunately, this isn't the case, as outside of Tokyo Drift, Sean's screen time has been extremely limited, only appearing in a handful of other movies.
As a result, he is an ideal name to return for the live-action show, since there's still so much to explore with the character. With Sean mainly being shoehorned into future appearances, Tokyo Drift doesn't really fit the Fast & Furious movie franchise, mainly because it's so far removed from everything else.
That could be solved by mixing Sean with other notable heroes, fleshing out his time in Japan, and furthering his connections to the main crew. Doing that in Fast & Furious 11 is almost impossible, but the TV series allows a lot more time for character arcs and growth, rather than just action, which is why Sean needs to be involved.
Elle Lue (Anna Sawai)
Fast & Furious is yet to go all out on its future generation, but while Dom's son is becoming a prominent part of the story despite his young age, Han's adopted daughter was restricted to a single movie. Elle played a fairly substantial part in F9, but she hasn't been back since, other than being pictured as one of Dante's targets.
Again, this suggests she could return in Fast & Furious 11, but it's hard to imagine her getting a central role with so many other characters to focus on and storylines to complete. Still, Elle is way too important to sideline, so allowing her to be the start of a future generation of outlaws could be a compelling storyline in the TV show.
With Anna Sawai winning an Emmy for her leading role in Shogun, she is clearly capable of carrying a televised series. So, if Fast & Furious can manage to secure her name for this future project, she'd bring plenty of depth to one of the franchise's most underutilized characters, making Elle's presence absolutely essential.
Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes)
Like Suki, Monica Fuentes first debuted in 2 Fast 2 Furious before seemingly fading into obscurity. She did at least play a minor role in Fast Five, confirming she is still alive, but for such a prominent character in the second film, it's a real surprise that she hasn't featured more often.
She has history with Brian, Roman, and Hobbs, while working for the Diplomatic Security Service, all of which prove she could be a valuable addition to the upcoming show. There's still a lot we don't know about her, but her history in the franchise highlights that she will get her hands dirty when forced.
Eva Mendes is yet another major star who would help bring eyes to the series, and with Monica being a real fan favorite, she certainly should've been more involved in Fast & Furious over the past decade. Fortunately, this new project is the perfect chance to change that and provide a payoff to her Fast Five post-credits scene.
