The "Unsupervised Science" side quest in Control Resonant will have you searching for FBC testing facilities around Manhattan and solving puzzles to shut them down.

There are six testing facilities in total, and they feature two different puzzles. The first puzzle involves you transforming items into soda dispensers and placing them into yellow squares. The second puzzle requires you to swap charges between red and blue power cores for 60 seconds.

To complete the quest, you need to shut down each FBC testing facility and go into the final threshold. Additionally, this will put you one step closer to earning the "Threshold Researcher" achievement.

How to solve the FBC testing facility puzzles in Control Resonant

There are two different puzzles at the FBC testing facilities: one involving soda dispensers and one involving power cores.

How to solve FBC testing facility soda dispenser puzzle in Control Resonant

For the testing facilities involving soda dispensers (Downtown, Evacuation Zone, and West Incursion Zone), you'll enter a large room with a variety of items: a soda dispenser, a sink, a stove, and a copy machine. The room itself is separated into sections via yellow tape, and there are yellow squares scattered across the room.

If you pick up an item and move it into another section, it'll transform into a different item. Luckily, the item transformations follow the same cycle: stove ⇔ sink ⇔ copy machine ⇔ soda dispenser ⇔ stove. The transformations work both ways, so if you move into another section and your stove turns into a sink, if you move back it'll turn back into a stove.

To solve the puzzle, you must transform every item into a soda dispenser, and place them into a square. Our best tip to solve this puzzle is to look for a T-intersection of three different sections, and move around it in a circle until you get your desired item. Just remember that you'll most likely need to walk through a few sections to get to a square, so you don't always want to end on a soda dispenser.

After you place a soda dispenser in every square, make sure to pull the lever on the control panel at the entrance, which will open a locked door in the back corner.

How to solve the FBC testing facility power core puzzle in Control Resonant

For the testing facilities involving power cores (Central, The Park, Unknown), you'll enter a room with power cores featuring red and blue lights. Your goal is to prevent the power cores from overloading and losing power by swapping the electricity between the red and blue power cores.

Pull the lever at the entrance to start the challenge, and wait for the lights to rapidly blink before transferring the charge from one power core to the other. If it starts getting too hectic, you can swap electricity between one pair of red and blue power cores early, so that every power core isn't on the same cadence.

The sewer entrance to Testing Facility Reade is located on the bottom floor of the construction site in the eastern area of Downtown. To get here, you need to first unlock Reach from the Subway Fault in the Evacuation Zone. Then, head to Lookout Point, and use Reach to enter the eastern area of Downtown.

The sewer entrance to Testing Facility Platt is on the east side of Central. Head directly east from the Patterned Factory, and you'll find the construction site that is hiding the sewer entrance.

The entrance to Testing Facility Broadway is found on the central street in the southwest portion of the West Incursion Zone. You'll need Shift from the Incursion Fault in the Parking Garage, so make sure to complete that first.

The sewer entrance to Testing Facility Vesey has two entrances in the northeast corner of The Park, but the first one you'll encounter is the northernmost entrance. Go through the parking garage and head east to find the sewer entrance.

The entrance to Testing Facility Dutch is located just southwest of the center point of the central island in the Unknown. The easiest way to get there is to start from the "Twisted Rooftops" fast travel door, and drop off the northwest edge to the construction site below. Otherwise, you can start from the Oldest House and use Reach to get to the lower half of the central island. Then, go to the intersection in the middle of the island, and follow the road to the southwest. You'll walk off a cliff, but the sewer entrance will be just below you.

How to go into the threshold in 'Unsupervised Science' in Control Resonant

After you complete all six testing facilities, return to the testing facility in the Unknown. Go into the reward room, and pull the lever on the console. This will open a hallway full of soda dispensers, stoves, sinks, and copy machines. Head inside and stop at the first intersection.

First, follow the cable to the right (or else you'll turn into a chair or a payphone), and hit the electrical box at the end of the cable.

Then, go back to the intersection and take the path to the right. Go to the end of the path, where you'll find a tape recorder on the ground. Pick it up to complete the "Unsupervised Science" side quest, and earn the Scrunchie artifact, which increases damage done by primary weapon forms by 10%.
