Austin Manchester is a writer and editor living in New York City. At Polygon, he covers gaming and entertainment news, reviews new video games, interviews behind-the-scenes talent, and more. He enjoys discovering hidden gems and sharing them with Polygon's audience. Previously, he was the gaming editor for AIPT Comics and has written for other outlets like XDA, How-To Geek, and The List.

He enjoys soulslikes, character-driven RPGs, and third-person shooters plucked straight out of the Xbox 360 era. He also likes to flex his non-video game nerdy knowledge sometimes, whether that's explaining who's who in the new Wolverine game or recommending a comic book series about a sentient sword.

Plus a a great Sonic game joins the Luna library

Amazon Prime has a big new sale going on, but PC gamers can also snag some games for free with their Prime membership. Each month, Amazon Prime members get two new batches of games: one batch to keep, and another batch to stream via its cloud gaming service, Luna. The Luna library includes some standout titles, like Control and Death Stranding, and just added Star Wars: Galactic Racer.

Doom (2016) highlights a batch of 10 free games Amazon Prime members will be able to claim throughout October. It rebooted the first-person shooter franchise, and some players consider it the best Doom game around. You likely know what to expect from it at this point: slaughter countless demons with an arsenal of brutal weapons, like your trusty shotgun and a BFG 9000. The original two Doom games and Doom Eternal are also still free to claim for a limited time.

All the free games Amazon Prime members get in October 2026

Unlike Sony's free PlayStation Plus games, which you can only play while your subscription is active, Amazon's free games come via redeemable codes from various PC gaming storefronts, like the Epic Games Store and GOG. You'll still own and have access to them even if your Amazon Prime subscription ends.

Here's everything new to claim this month:

  • Five Nights at Freddy's: Into the Pit (Epic Games Store) — available now
  • Doom (GOG Code) — available now
  • Conarium (GOG Code) — Oct. 8
  • WarBreeds (GOG Code) — Oct. 8
  • Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong (Epic Games Store) — Oct. 15
  • Caravan SandWitch (Amazon Games App) — Oct. 15
  • Ad Infinitum (Epic Games Store) — Oct. 22
  • Time Travel: Escape Room Game (Legacy Games Code) — Oct. 22
  • Trash Goblin (Epic Games Store) — Oct. 29
  • Kiborg (Amazon Games App) — Oct. 29

Sonic the Hedgehog joins Luna Standard

A new Star Wars game isn't the only notable release being added to the Luna library of games. Sonic X Shadow Generations is now available to play on Luna Standard. It includes a remaster of Sonic Generations, which has both 2D and 3D levels, and a new adventure starring Shadow. Also joining Luna Standard is Space Metal Mania, a very metal arcade shooter.

Amazon Prime members can head to Amazon Luna to claim the free games and stream the new Luna Standard games.
