Avengers: Endgame Encore Leaks Reveal Massive Doomsday Plot Details

MCU fans, beware of spoilers!

Six years after its theatrical debut, one of the most important movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Endgame, returns to cinemas with an extended version, Avengers: Endgame Encore, which is four minutes longer than the original. While Encore will officially debut on Sept. 25, some early screenings are already happening in certain parts of the world, so fans planning to watch the movie in theaters should be wary of spoilers.

Many accounts have started posting the additional scenes from Avengers: Endgame Encore as early as Sept. 23, after some moviegoers illegally recorded them during screenings. The additional footage is meant as a tie-in with the MCU's upcoming big blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday, hitting theaters on Dec. 18. Again, if you plan to attend screenings of Encore, you should probably stop reading now, because the scenes have leaked in their entirety.

According to reports online, there are three entirely new scenes in the movie, setting up the big multiversal crisis that will be at the center of Avengers: Doomsday.

The original ending scene of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) dancing, after he has traveled to the past to spend a lifetime with his great love, has been altered. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) now shows up at the door, which will likely explain how Captain America is returning in Doomsday, not as an old man, but in his prime, as Loki is now the "keeper of time" and an ally of the Time Variance Authority.

Speaking of the TVA, it also appears in the middle of the credits of Encore, with a new scene set in its central control hub. Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) shows up for what he thinks will be a regular day at work, but discovers that thousands of universes are dying in the events known as Incursion, where two universes collide with each other.

Finally, a post-credit scene lets fans catch up with Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) after the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Banner is now imprisoned in an underground facility, which he hopes will contain his alter ego, Hulk, while he conducts more experiments with gamma energy. However, an unexpected visitor appears: Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.). While Doom does not appear on-screen, he says one line that is, however, barely intelligible in the leaks, leading fans to various interpretations. What's certain is that Banner disappears, and the symbol of Latveria is carved on the floor of his room.

What do the new Avengers: Endgame scenes tell us about Doomsday?

The biggest new information is that Hulk may appear in Avengers: Doomsday, which is great news for fans of the original Avengers lineup. However, Doom could have other plans for Banner instead, so nothing is definitive at this moment. We also got some confirmation of the dynamics of the Incursions, which should work like they did in the Marvel Comics storyline that inspired Doomsday, "Time Runs Out": One of the two colliding universes can try to destroy the other to avoid mutual annihilation. If they don't, both universes are doomed. Finally, it looks like Loki has recruited Steve Rogers, most likely to help stop the Incursions or Doom's plan, whatever that may be.

Overall, it's not much new information, but the new scenes surely do their job of setting up the upcoming Avengers movie and building a stronger connection with Endgame.
