Bachelor star Sam Wood charged over alleged domestic violence and strangulation incident in Noosa

Sam Wood has been charged with domestic violence offences after an incident in Noosa on the weekend. 

The Bachelor star, 46, was arrested on Saturday after police attended a property on the popular tourist town's main street where he was staying.   

A police spokesperson told the Courier Mail on Sunday that officers attended the Hastings Street address at about 9pm on Saturday 'after receiving reports of alleged domestic violence.'

'Police have charged a 46-year-old Victorian man with domestic violence offences early this morning, 4 October,' the spokesperson said. 

'The man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence) and strangulation in a domestic setting.'

Wood has been refused bail. He is due to front Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.

The arrest comes on the same weekend that Wood announced a 'comeback' in a social media post. 

'The comeback is personal. It's an apology to myself,' the post, shared on Instagram on Sunday, reads. 

Wood added in the accompanying caption: ' I see transformations every day and everyone's driving "why" is different. 

'You don't want to beat yourself up about what is in the past, but you can definitely gain strength and motivation for the future.'

With the reality TV personality behind bars, it's likely the post was pre-scheduled to be shared on Sunday. 

The fitness entrepreneur is married to Snezana Wood, who he met on The Bachelor Australia in 2015.

The pair married in November 2018 at an outdoor ceremony in Byron Bay, NSW.

They went on to have three children together, Willow, eight, Charlie, seven, and Harper, four.

They also co-parent  Eve, 21, who is Snezana's daughter from a previous relationship.

The Woods live in Brighton, Victoria, where they recently purchased a $7 million home in February. 

The celebrity trainer funnelled his Bachelor fame into building his highly successful fitness empire. 

The 28 By Sam Wood founder sold his training business in 2022 for $71 million, and he remains the owner of The Woodshed gym in Melbourne. 

In July, Wood came under fire when he was accused of 'cashing in' on the booming medical weight loss industry with his latest business venture, OLLO for Women. 

Wood, who has built his career promoting exercise and healthy eating, doubled down on his new project by sharing a defiant message to his fans via Instagram Stories.

'I was up late last night reading everyone's messages and questions regarding OLLO. A huge amount of intrigue and excitement and questions,' he said.

'There's also some people that you're going to ruffle their feathers a little bit, which I knew was always going to be the case.'

Wood pushed back against suggestions the business was motivated by profit, claiming the decision stemmed from years spent working with Australians struggling to lose weight.

'I didn't launch OLLO to make people happy, I didn't launch OLLO to make money,' he said.

'I launched OLLO because I'm in a position every single day and have been for 25 years where I talk to people who are not winning this battle against losing weight and they need help.'
