Benson Boone Postpones Sacramento Concert Due to Health Issue

Benson Boone spoke out after he postponed his concert in Sacramento, Calif., on Aug. 8: “I’ve been fighting like hell all afternoon to try and make my voice presentable.”

Benson Boone was forced to slow it down in the middle of his Wanted Man Tour.

The 24-year-old revealed he was struggling with his voice ahead of his concert in Sacramento, Calif. on Aug. 8, ultimately causing him to postpone his performance.

“Sacramento—I’m so so sorry but I am not going to be able to perform tonight,” Boone wrote on Instagram Stories Aug. 8. “I’ve been fighting like hell all afternoon to try and make my voice presentable for the show tonight and it’s not in a place to do so.”

“I know this is extremely disappointing especially for everyone who traveled to be here,” he added. “Trust me I am disappointed too. I hate letting you guys down more than anything.”

But fans in the area can be rest assured that they’ll be seeing the “Slow It Down” singer doing backflips in no time.

“We’re figuring out the next steps now, and I’ll get you an update as soon as I have one, but this show will be rescheduled as soon as possible,” he wrote. “I will see you soon. Thank you for sticking with me. Seriously. I love you guys so much.”

Golden1 Center—the venue where Boone was expected to perform—also addressed the cancellation on social media, citing "health reasons" as the reason for the postponement and confirming it would “announce updates as soon as they are available” regarding when the show would be rescheduled.

Boone's summer 2026 tour kicked off on July 7 and will run through Sept. 3. And since tour life began, the “Beautiful Things” singer has been soaking up every moment.

As he wrote on Instagram July 20 alongside an orange heart emoji, "Wanted Man tour I cannot get enough of you.”

And even before Boone went on his first full-scale headlining tour in 2023, he knew that performing was one of his favorite perks about making music, telling Notion in 2022, “I think one of the best feelings ever is when people sing back lyrics.”

“It’s the best feeling, performing is magical,” he added. “There’s nothing that compares that I’ve ever experienced. Nothing compares to the feeling of being cheered on by thousands of people, or even 300 people, I get the same thrill. No matter who it is, if they support you and love you, and show it, it’s automatically the coolest thing ever.”
