Brandon Sanderson’s Shards Of Creation Officially Available Now

Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere universe is constantly expanding, with the author rolling out new books, standalone stories, an entirely new role-playing game featuring adventures from both The Stormlight Archive and Mistborn series, and much more. Fans of his work have a lot to look forward to in the coming months, with Apple TV's ambitious Cosmere adaptation officially moving forward, beginning with a Mistborn feature film before expanding into a premium Stormlight Archive television series developed with Sanderson's close creative involvement.

This is not to mention the official Skyward television series in the works, and at the same time, the author is juggling an incredibly busy publishing slate. The first Ghostbloods book is officially on track for its planned 2028 release, while additional Cosmere novels are in active development, and several non-Cosmere projects will arrive in the meantime. It's hard to believe Sanderson has time for all of this, and probably even harder for fans to keep track of his projects.

As such, many Cosmere fans may have missed the official launch of Shards of Creation, a brand-new Sanderson release that's already sold out at Sanderson's store, Dragonsteel, but luckily is available to claim at other select retailers, such as Amazon and Atomic Empire. Shards of Creation is a brand-new trick-taking card game set within Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere, transforming several of his Divine Shards into playable suits with unique advantages.

The game features Autonomy, Cultivation, Devotion, Dominion, Honor, Odium, Preservation, and Ruin, with each offering different card values and special abilities that strategize with in different ways. Designed by Brotherwise Games for players of any experience level, it combines an accessible format, while also giving longtime readers new canonical artwork and interpretations of some of the Cosmere’s most powerful entities.

The original run of Shards of Creation sold out quickly via Dragonsteel Books recently, though other retailers still have sets in stock. However, given the game's popularity in the first month since its release, you may want to order your sooner than later, as it's likely to sell out at other storefronts as well.

Shards of Creation will also be available for purchase at this year's Gen Con event in Indianapolis, Indiana, which runs from July 30 to August 2, and will feature several other big reveals from Dragonsteel and other board game developers from across the industry.
