Carrot Top is on the mend.

After the comedian (real name Scott Thompson) was hospitalized in Las Vegas, where he has hosted a residency for more than 20 years, his rep shared an update on how he is doing.

“Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs,” his rep Jami Schlicher told Entertainment Weekly in a Sept. 19 statement. “His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy.”

The Luxor Hotel and Casino, where he has hosted his nightly comedy special since 2005, also spoke out, expressing well-wishes for the 61-year-old.

“Scott is a beloved member of the Luxor and MGM Resorts family, and we are relieved to hear that he is recovering,” the Luxor Hotel and Casino told KLAS. “We are thinking of him and wish him strength as he receives the care and support he needs.”

Though Carrot Top, who most recently made an appearance on Hacks in 2024, has largely stayed out of the public eye in recent years beyond his prop comedy shows, he previously detailed his long-standing relationship with his entertainment persona.

“I think you learn the craft a little bit more, you get a little more confident,” he explained on the Whiskey Ginger podcast in 2023. “I love writing I love trying new jokes every night. I'll try five or six things even if they eat s--t, I do them and my crew always knows—they love that part of it.”

In fact, he firmly believes that’s a fundamental part of the process.

“I hate when comics just do the same s--t forever don't try to be creative,” Carrot Top added. “Eating it is part of growing as a comic.”
