My career in journalism got kicked off after eight years as an active duty Naval Aviator, starting with covering college sports for Inside Lacrosse and SB Nation. After joining the staff at USA Today's For The Win, I started dabbling in pop culture coverage and fell in love with it. I'm happy to talk movies and television any time, and I'm usually listening to music (or an audiobook) in my free time.

Get ready to see some new faces when Chicago Fire returns for its 15th season on October 7.

Da'Vinchi has already been confirmed as a new candidate for the upcoming season of the NBC drama that follows a collection of firefighters, paramedics, and rescue personnel attached to Firehouse 51 as they navigate emergency situations in the Windy City. Now, the All-American actor has helped announce another new cast member.

In an Instagram post on August 20, Da'Vinchi shared a photo from the set that included himself, Brandon Larracuente, and Matthew Daddario in candidate T-shirts and sitting on the front of a fire truck. Larracuente was already confirmed for Chicago Fire, but Daddario had not yet been announced as a new addition.

TV Insider recently confirmed that Daddario was, in fact, joining the crew for season 15, but details on his role are scant outside of being a new candidate for the firehouse. The actor, who is the brother of White Lotus actress Alexandra Daddario, is best known for playing Alec Lightwood on the Freeform series Shadowhunters.

While there is no additional information on Daddario's character, they have shared that Da'Vinchi will be playing Marcus Burke. The two actors join Larracuente, Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg, Miranda Rae Mayo, Christian Stolte, Joe Miñoso, Hanako Greensmith, and Jocelyn Hudon as series regulars for season 15.

There are some confirmed departures upcoming for the long-running series, with Dermont Mulroney set to depart after one episode. Mulroney has played Chief Dom Pascal since joining the series in season 13. Another major character is departing this season, Joe Miñoso. The star was a recurring character in the first season all the way back in 2012 and became a member of the main cast in season 2. He has been in 294 of the 296 episodes of Chicago Fire.

The character turnover makes sense based on the fact that season 14 ended with a massive cliffhanger. All the major players for Chicago Fire — except Pascal (Mulroney), Violet (Hanako Greensmith), and Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) — were either inside or in dangerous proximity to a call for an out-of-control blaze. A loud explosion then trapped the firefighters and first responders inside and created high drama and tension for the off-season.

Chicago Fire is part of the One Chicago universe, alongside Chicago Med and Chicago P.D., all airing on NBC. The new season of Chicago Fire is set to air on Wednesday, October 7 at 9 PM ET. There is a chance that it experience delays, however, as tension has built between unionized production workers for Chicago Fire (and Chicago Med) and NBC.
