1 million copies in 3 weeks isn't bad

Remedy Entertainment's latest mind-bending game, Control Resonant, is a massive sales success for the Finnish developer. Less than a month after the action RPG's release, the studio revealed the game has sold more than 1 million copies.

Remedy shared the news on social media in a post that read, "Thank you for the support ❤️ For playing, sharing, and being a part of the community." Control Resonant was released on Sept. 24 and received largely positive reviews from critics. The sequel to Remedy's 2019 game Control follows Dylan Faden as he explores a twisted version of New York while working for the Federal Bureau of Control and searching for his missing sister, Jesse, the protagonist of the first game.

Success is always a matter of perspective in the gaming industry. The Blood of Dawnwalker was also released in September and sold 1 million copies in just two days. But it took Remedy about two months to sell 1 million copies of Alan Wake 2 in 2023, and Control Resonant accomplished that feat in less than half the time. It took Alan Wake 2 over a year to become profitable, and if Control Resonant can get there faster, it will help the company achieve stable growth.

What is next for Remedy Entertainment?

Remedy is working with Rockstar Games to remake the first two Max Payne games. The studio was previously working on another game, codenamed Kestrel, but that project was canceled in 2024.

Remedy added more content to Control after its initial release and could do the same for Control Resonant, which includes plenty of hanging plot threads perfect for DLC. The game even includes an Easter egg that hints at an eventual Alan Wake 3.
