Coronation Street to be rocked by dangerous love triangle as gripping trailer reveals Shona Platt's villainous sister Jodie will make a move on her husband David

The Coronation Street cobbles are set to be rocked by a dangerous love triangle, as a dramatic trailer has teased that Shona Platt's villainous sister Jodie will make a move on her husband David.

Since Jodie arrived in Weatherfield earlier this year, she has been hell-bent on taking her place in her sister's happy domestic set-up, and things are set to get even darker in the coming weeks.

The teaser exposes the tensions at the Platts as a calculating Jodie (Olivia Frances Brown) recklessly pursues her sister Shona's (Julia Goulding) husband, David (Jack P Shepherd). 

Convinced she's owed her own shot at happiness, Jodie shamelessly makes the bold declaration to David that he 'deserves someone that will treat you right.'

But Shona won't take the ultimate sister betrayal lying down. 

The preview ends with a face off between the two sisters, with Shona's ultimatum for Jodie to back off her husband 'before I drag you away.'

On the upcoming storyline, Olivia Frances Brown, who plays Jodie, said: 'Jodie has convinced herself that David symbolises her potential for future happiness. 

'She's lost the plot a little bit and truly believes David is the answer to all her wants and needs.

'When pushed, you just don't know what Jodie's capable of. She has a lot of dark secrets and has a genuinely sinister side to her.'

On Monday, Corrie proved to be the big winner at this year's Inside Soap Awards, as they swept the board with a total of eight gongs.

The annual ceremony took place in Manchester on Monday, with over 110,000 soap fans voting for their favourite shows and stars to win a coveted honour. 

Scooping the Best Soap Award for the third year in a row, Corrie also won Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Storyline, Best Partnership, Best Villain, Best Exit and Best Young Performer.

Corrie's hard-hitting domestic abuse storyline, which saw Todd tormented by his partner Theo, was recognised with a Best Storyline, while Gareth Pierce was awarded Best Actor.

James Cartwright, who played abuser Theo Silverton, was given the Best Villain award, while Daniel Brocklebank received Best Exit, after his character Billy Mayhew was left to die by Theo during January's Corriedale cross-over.

Inside Soap editor Sarah Ellis said: 'The heartbreaking story of Todd's abuse at the hands of his partner Theo really struck a chord with the audience, and won out against some really stellar work from the other soaps. 

'Plus, the love for power couple Lisa and Carla Connor-Swain – aka Swarla – remains as strong as ever, making it a truly memorable year for our Best Soap winners.'

Corrie's Vicky Myers was also awarded Best Actress for her performance as Lisa Connor-Swain, while Alison King won Best Partnership for Carla and Lisa's blossoming romance.

'The soaps have proved to be an emotional watch in 2026,' notes Sarah. 

'But these hard-hitting storylines offer our favourite actors the chance to do some of their most powerful work, and our readers are clearly engaging with those performances, as evidenced by the record number of votes we received this year. 

'As the Inside Soap Awards celebrates 30 years, it's great to see that our soaps are still going strong.'
