Doctor Doom's Debuts New Blue Costume Ahead Of Avengers: Doomsday

Doctor Doom's few radical physical changes have almost always reflected a major transformation in his plans or philosophy. Secret Wars gave Doom an imposing white cloak to reflect his near-omnipotence in Battleworld, while Infamous Iron Man replaced his traditional armor with a sleeker suit inspired by Tony Stark's technology, and Marvel 2099 introduced a much more extravagant Doom who sports elaborate armor plating and futuristic ornamentation. Live-action has now followed suit in Avengers: Doomsday, whose MCU Doctor Doom redesign preserves the villain's unmistakable style, but presents more intricate decoration across the armor and cloak.

Not long after Marvel's second Ultimate Universe reached a first major climax with Reed Richards a.k.a Doom redeeming himself by defeating the Maker, Marvel introduces another version of Doom who wears a blue variant of his iconic costume, this time with the real Victor von Doom under the mask.

Marvel reveals five of the eight covers for the upcoming oversized one-shot Doom: All-On-One, which sees Victor von Doom fight the entire Marvel Universe as he makes his way to Mephisto, seeking revenge for the demon's abduction of his mother. InHyuk Lee's variant cover for Doom: All-On-One features Victor in a version of his classic cloak and armor that pays homage to the Fantastic Four, with a blue color palette and the team's emblem on his chest. Other variants depict Doom waging brutal battles with powerful heroes like the Hulk, Thor, and Spider-Man.

Whether Doctor Doom will actually wear a Fantastic Four-themed version of his traditional attire is yet to be seen. However, InHyuk Lee's variant cover for Doom: All-On-One marks a major first in Victor von Doom's comic book history. Doom has teamed up with the Fantastic Four and many other heroes multiple times throughout the years, but he never takes pride in it, let alone chooses to wear the same costumes and iconography as them. Usually, Doctor Doom only makes slight alterations to his armor, and he only changes his royal attire for special events like his God Emperor transformation in Secret Wars.

Doctor Doom Desperately Needs A Big-Screen Battle With Mephisto

An Adaptation Doctor Doom And Mephisto's Feud Only Became Possible Until Very Recently

Doctor Doom's hatred for Mephisto is a storied feud in Marvel lore, and it continues to develop in the pages of Marvel's Armageddon. However, Doom: All-On-One revisits it in detail with fifty beautifully illustrated splash pages that prove how visually striking this conflict and setting has been since Doom first confronted the devil. Doctor Doom and Mephisto's enmity is rarely explored outside the comics, and all the elements required for an equally striking live-action adaptation only came together in the past few years. Mephisto finally made his MCU debut in 2025's Ironheart, and Doctor Doom is taking center stage in 2026's Avengers: Doomsday.

With Mephisto already around, Doctor Doom becoming the MCU multiverse's main antagonist, and Marvel Comics placing the spotlight on both villains' feud in at least two concurrent continuities, it's clear that Doom and Mephisto's conflict is ready to make the jump to other big-budget media. After all, seeing Doctor Doom slice through entire teams of Marvel heroes before arriving in Hell to challenge Mephisto across fifty splash pages is the ultimate proof that the same story can work just as well in a live-action theatrical movie.
