Dolly Parton's Steel Magnolias co-star Sally Field is seen for first time since country music icon's shock death as she arrives in LA

Sally Field, who starred in Steel Magnolias with the late Dolly Parton, was spotted arriving at LAX with a relative on Saturday.

The 79-year-old actress was seen for the first time since Parton died on Tuesday at age 80 following a brief battle with cancer.

Field was dressed in wide-leg light wash blue jeans, a button-up blue shirt, a black blazer, and an LA Dodgers baseball cap.

She wore white sneakers with pink soles, and had her small black dog in tow.

Her greying dark hair spilled out from underneath her hat, and she wore a pair of square-shaped eyeglasses. 

In the wake of her death, Field took to Instagram to pay tribute to Parton with a photo of the cast from the late 80s movie set, writing in the caption: 'If there are truly angels on earth, then we have just lost one.'

She continued, 'Dolly Parton. There will never be another. I adored her with all my heart and will always cherish our time together. Forever. Rest in peace beautiful Dolly.' 

Steel Magnolias follows a group of women in the south who lean on each other through life's trials and tribulations.

Shirley MacLaine, 92, who was also in the film, said about Parton in a statement to People, 'God sent her to us, and she has returned home.'

Parton's death was confirmed on Tuesday in an Instagram video posted by Parton's nephew and head of security Bryan Seaver.

She passed away after being admitted on August 21 to Nashville's Vanderbilt University Medical Center with autoimmune and kidney problems, according to TMZ.

Four days before her death, the singer told People she had 'so many things I want to achieve,' including launching a new hotel and museum in Nashville, Tennessee.

'This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality,' Seaver said in the clip.

He lauded his aunt for having 'lived in the light' and said she was now 'in the arms of Jesus' and the company of her late husband Carl Dean, as well as her parents and 'countless others who have watched her and longed to meet her in the heavens.'

Parton's legacy could soon expand as Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Nashville International Airport seek to name the travel hub in her honor.

Lee said he has spoken to Parton’s team about the proposal. 

According to Page Six, Parton's representatives showed appreciation for the gesture and said they are open to the idea, per a press release from Lee and the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority.

Should it come to fruition, the renaming of the transportation center will further cement the star's impact.

'Dolly Parton’s extraordinary life is forever woven into the fabric of our state,' the governor declared in the statement. 'From her rural mountain home in East Tennessee to global stages, Dolly carried the Volunteer Spirit with her.'

He continued: 'At a place where Tennessee welcomes the world, it is fitting that Nashville International Airport would bear the name of our state’s favorite daughter and greet travelers with the enduring legacy of Dolly’s music, generosity, faith, and kindness.'
