Dungeon Crawler Carl Officially Changes Genres In Surprise New Release

When it comes to the LitRPG genre, the Dungeon Crawler Carl series reigns supreme. Written by Matt Dinniman and first published back in 2020 before welcoming an impressive seven sequels since, the series follows Carl, who is joined by his ex-girlfriend's cat, Princess Donut, as the two enter a dungeon crawl inspired by an intergalactic reality show program. Now that aliens have taken over Earth's resources, Carl and Princess Donut are two of the few survivors, and so completing this crawl could change everything for them.

Now sitting at the top of the LitRPG charts, Dungeon Crawler Carl has gone on to inspire audiobooks, graphic novels, and an upcoming TTRPG experience, but it seems as though there is plenty still planned for the series taking over the world.

That includes a complete genre switch as Dungeon Crawler Carl is now heading to the arcade with a stunning pinball experience.

Bringing Carl, Princess Donut, and the chaotic dungeon they find themselves having to navigate, Multimorphic Inc. has launched Dungeon Crawler Carl for the P³ pinball platform. Based on the hit LitRPG franchise, this pinball experience features an audio experience featuring the voice of audiobook narrator Jeff Hays, who will take on the voices of some of our most beloved characters. It also includes stunning artwork by series cover artist Luciano Fleitas, playfield art from Brad Albright and additional artwork provided by Renegade Game Studios.

“Dungeon Crawler Carl is an epic and wild adventure story with unique environments, endearing characters trying to survive impossible situations and nightmarish mobs and bosses,” shared Gerry Stellenberg, founder and president of Multimorphic. “Delivering a physical pinball experience that does the story justice was an exciting challenge, and we’ve created a game that fans of the series will absolutely love.”

Much like the hit book series, the pinball experience will see you step into the role of Carl, joined by Princess Donut, as they navigate obstacles that would face them in their dungeon experience. As such, they will need to team up to fight enemies, cast spells, boost viewer count, and collect friends, all whilst providing much-needed entertainment to those watching.

Featuring a target bank, kickback, moving shot paths and a player-loadable and controllable cannon, this pinball experience will prevent quite the challenge, but luckily, it also includes a six-ball Mana stack with multiple ball-releases, a bashable Mongo cage with magnetic ball lock, sling-lock ball stops on each inlane, a Princess Donut sculpt with LED eyes and a jump ramp with magnetic catch-and-fling action.

The only catch here is that the P³ pinball machine with Dungeon Crawler Carl is $12,350, but if you already happen to own one, it will cost an upgrade fee of $5,250. With the machine and game kit set to launch in late 2026, it will not be long before owners get to experience this hit Dungeon Crawler Carl experience.
