Jared's first console was the PS1, wherein he fell for Spider-Man, Spyro the Dragon, and Crash Bandicoot.

Warning! This article contains minor SPOILERS for Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers #1.

Part of what makes Dungeons & Dragons so thrilling is that its adventures often stretch beyond the table, dice, and character sheets. In fact, there are plenty of video games, novels, and Dungeons & Dragons comic books for fans to immerse themselves in if they wish.

For instance, Dark Horse’s first Dungeons & Dragons comic book series, The Fallbacks, is considered quite special. Now, the publisher’s second Dungeons & Dragons series is imminent, and it’ll have big boots to fill.

As per the official Dark Horse Comics website, Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers is a four-issue comic book series that releases its first issue tomorrow, July 22. Announced in early March, Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers features a band of iconic Dungeons & Dragons monsters: a lycanthrope, mind flayer, death knight, and baby beholder.

Interestingly, while it’s not made clear in the first issue’s preview pages, the main cover for Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers #1 by artist Elizabeth Beals seems to deduce that the lycanthrope of the party is the book’s protagonist, Tilli, as we can see the mind flayer, death knight, and baby beholder encircling them, unless they simply haven’t been revealed yet. These monsters are bound to the wizard Custos, whose death has encouraged adventurers far and wide to journey to their lair and loot it for themselves, and “form their own adventuring party to win their freedom,” which likely has to do with obtaining the highly sought-after Gorget of Dominance that other parties are in pursuit of, as well.

Total Party Killers’ is a cheeky play on the Total Party Kill Dungeons & Dragons term for when a whole adventuring party is wiped out, and it’ll be fun to see if the party is able to achieve a TPK or be the one that is felled.

Anyone who indulges in comic book solicitations or takes a gander at the covers that’ve been revealed for issues #2 and #3 will have spoiled a high-profile character whose identity fans may have already deduced from the preview pages of issue #1 alone. Indeed, the solicitation for issue #2 reveals who may well be the primary antagonist of this limited series campaign, and they’re an iconic character whom fans might be intimately familiar with from across all Dungeons & Dragons media: Valindra Shadowmantle.

This is proof that there could be any number of horrors and plot twists in store throughout Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers, which is sure to be densely action-packed. Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers is being released on a monthly basis, but issue #2 of this daring Dungeons & Dragons adventure will not be released until September 2.

Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers #1 is scheduled to be released on July 22, 2026.
