DWTS' Had a Major Editing Error During Tatyana Ali’s Performance
DWTS’ Jan Ravnik Reveals What He Told Tatyana Ali About Taylor Swift Wedding
Watch out, camera, because Jan Ravnik will chew you up.
And that’s because when he and Dancing With the Stars partner Tatyana Ali took to the ballroom stage on Sept. 30 to perform their Yacht Rock-themed Quickstep, a filming mishap meant part of their dance didn’t make it to air.
Indeed, about halfway through their dance set to “Maneater,” the camera flashed to the grinning audience—and then stayed there. Instead of seeing Tatyana and Jan perform, viewers at home were instead met with five to six seconds of a shaky camera showing off an aisle.
Thankfully, Jan was there to show fans what they’d missed from the 21-point performance.
After the show, the dance pro shared a side by side of what the broadcast showed alongside a live feed of the couple’s dance. In the seconds the camera was trained on the aisle, Jan and Tatyana quickstepped across the room before the pro dropped into a dramatic full split while Tatyana spun before him.
Jan captioned the Sept. 29 post, “You guys missed that.”
Naturally, fans were disappointed after seeing what didn’t make it to air.
“WE MISSED A WHOLE SPLIT??” one user wrote under Jan’s video, while fellow pro Ezra Sosa added, “HOW DARE THEY?”
A third referenced Jan’s ongoing joke that he has a “Dead to Me” list, writing, “THANK YOU!!!! I was screaming! Camera man is DTM.”
But despite the live flub, what viewers at home did see from Tatyana and Jan’s performance was enough to get them to week four of the competition.
In fact, judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli all praised the partners for having turned a corner.
As Derek told Tatyana, “That was your best dance. You came alive, your footwork was phenomenal. Overall, tonight was your breakthrough.”

Unfortunately, it was the end of the road for partners Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart, whose 18-point foxtrot didn’t earn enough votes to carry them through to week four.
For the Hanson alum, his time in the ballroom will always stick with him.
"This has been everything, this has been incredible," Taylor said following the elimination, adding of Britt, "She's shown me things I didn't think was possible and I'm so grateful for this time."
