The forecast emerged after X user DogeDesigner highlighted a Morgan Stanley research note characterizing SpaceX as “attractively valued,” noting that market participants continue underestimating Starship’s potential scope. Interestingly, Morgan Stanley also forecasts $3.5 trillion in revenue, though their timeline extends to 2040 rather than 2033.

Mach 33 CEO Aaron Burnett observed that Morgan Stanley’s projection relies “on a figure that’s nearly half the company’s stated objective and a decade beyond when the company plans to reach it.”

Musk entered the discussion on social media. “My best guess for ~$3.5T revenue is roughly around 2033 fwiw,” he posted. This would require an 80% compound annual growth rate from the anticipated $100 billion in sales for 2027.

Analyst Estimates Fall Far Short

Street consensus paints a considerably more conservative picture. Financial analysts forecast SpaceX generating $175 billion in 2028 revenue, climbing to $281 billion in 2029, and reaching $416 billion by 2030. These projections make the $3.5 trillion 2033 target appear extremely ambitious.

To put this in perspective, no American corporation has ever generated $1 trillion in annual sales. Among current Wall Street projections, Amazon stands as the earliest candidate to breach that threshold, potentially in 2028.

Morgan Stanley’s Adam Jonas, who maintains a Buy rating on SPCX with a $300 price objective, anticipates $2.6 trillion of SpaceX’s 2040 revenue stemming from artificial intelligence applications alone.

Artificial Intelligence Powers Growth Outlook

Artificial intelligence forms the cornerstone of Musk’s revenue projections. The broader AI investment landscape does validate aggressive expansion scenarios, albeit potentially not matching Musk’s timeline.

Nvidia recently forecast 70% expansion in calendar 2027, surpassing Wall Street’s 45% consensus. Alphabet’s cloud division posted 82% year-over-year growth in Q2, while its cloud services backlog reached $514 billion, representing nearly 400% annual growth.

SpaceX aims to execute 10,000 Starship launches annually by 2030, consistent with President Trump’s updated space policy emphasizing increased NASA launch frequency. Construction on a new launch complex, Starbase Louisiana, is scheduled to commence in 2027 with an initial Starship launch planned for 2029.

Musk recently announced that Starship’s forthcoming Flight Test 14 will include an attempt to catch the vehicle’s upper stage.

SPCX declined 0.27% to $140.49 in Thursday’s overnight session and retreated 0.2% to $140.61 in Friday premarket trading, while S&P 500 futures dropped 0.1%.
