Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff risked an awkward run-in as the exes were both seen in NYC on Thursday for Taylor Swift's wedding extravaganza. 

The 40-year-old Girls star, who is close pals with the Love Story songstress, previously dated Antonoff from 2012 until their split in late 2017.

Dunham held a brief conversation with an officer who was helping to direct traffic in the bustling area before being allowed to head closer to the venue. 

Swift and her fiance Travis Kelce put on an intimate celebration with 100 of their closest friends and loved ones ahead of them saying 'I do.'  

Elsewhere in the Big Apple, Antonoff was seen heading to the gathering alongside his sister Rachel.

The musician was dressed for the occasion in a dark brown suit as well as a white dress shirt and black loafers. 

His sister also glammed up for night one of the wedding festivities in a strapless pink dress with tasseled details. 

Dunham and Antonoff were first introduced by Rachel in 2012, which then led to the former couple striking up a romance. 

The two stars made appearances together over the years as she starred in Girls and he focused on his music career which included his time in the band Fun. 

However, in December 2017, their relationship had come to an end. 

Dunham reflected on their past romance in her memoir titled Famesick which hit shelves back in April. 

She had called his love as a sort of 'medicine' and had written, 'Here was this boy - no, at twenty-eight, he was a man. 

'He had strong arms, and good instincts, and models on video shoots who slipped him their numbers on napkins.'

The actress added, 'I didn't realize it then, but as our relationship deepened, I relied on him for more than companionship and affection.'

She continued that Antonoff's 'care' for her and 'his choosing me, was an assurance that I was beautiful, lovable, being signed off on by someone who had every choice in the world and had made this one.' 

During an interview on the Today show in April, Dunham had called the music producer her 'first love.'

'A lot of dreams came to an end. But the amazing thing about life is it takes you where you need to go and we're both happily married now, and clearly we're exactly where we need to be.' 

She added at the time, 'I have so much gratitude that [Antonoff] was there for me at that time in my life.' 

Dunham has since tied the knot with Luis Felber in 2021 while Antonoff said 'I do' to Margaret Qualley in 2023. 

Swift, who is also his longtime collaborator, had notably been in attendance at his wedding to Qualley which was held in New Jersey. 

Other stars that had been seen heading to the celebration at MSG on Thursday included Erin Andrews, 49ers tight end George Kittle, Abigail Anderson, Swift's publicist Tree Paine and Charissa Thompson.

The interior of Madison Square Garden is understood to be transformed into a garden with a massive castle. 

Photos shot for the Daily Mail this week captured items, equipment and decorations being loaded into the venue, including two 'large white banisters.'   

Swift's convoy was spotted arriving at Madison Square Garden ahead of her wedding rehearsal dinner on Thursday in exclusive Daily Mail pictures. 

The bride-to-be was seen being swept into the back of the iconic NYC venue in a blacked-out silver Suburban with an extended roof and communications antennas.

Guests were also expected to enter in a stream of blacked-out SUVs through 4 Penn Plaza, where the singer's team had been busily erecting drive through tents to block prying eyes.

As previously reported by the Daily Mail, the dress code for the rehearsal dinner was 'cocktail attire,' a source said, with only family members and close friends in attendance at MSG's smaller Infosys Theater. 

Guests have also started to feel the magnitude of Friday's wedding day. 

'Everybody's feeling good, but I think everybody's ready for it to be over,' one source candidly admitted to the Daily Mail in an exclusive interview.

According to the well-placed insider, part of the nerves stems from loved ones not wanting to slip and share too much information with the public or the press, as every little detail of the highly anticipated nuptials is under a microscope.

'Everybody's feeling good, but I think everybody's ready for it to be over,' one source candidly admitted to the Daily Mail in an exclusive interview

'Nobody wants to be the one to divulge plans and get in trouble, so they're on edge about that,' the source added, without detailing what those repercussions may be.

We're told it's become the norm for 'everyone to go along' with what Swift wants.

Sources also previously claimed to the Daily Mail that guests who received an invitation are being required to sign an NDA before receiving information about the wedding.

Following night one of the wedding celebration, Swift was spotted returning home just hours before walking down the aisle.
