Fortnite Giving Away Free Skin Ahead of Control Resonant Launch

Remedy Entertainment's Control was released in 2019, and over seven years later, fans are finally getting their hands on a sequel. Control Resonant launches on Sept. 24, 2026. This time around, players take on the role of Dylan Faden, Jesse's brother. Dylan wields a powerful shapeshifting weapon called the Aberrant, and players must master all of its forms in order to excel in combat and survive in Control Resonant's world.

In anticipation of this launch, Epic Games will release a Dylan Faden skin in Fortnite. Players who purchase Control Resonant on the Epic Games Store will receive the Dylan Faden skin for free on Aug. 26 at 12 a.m. EST — a day before Control's seventh anniversary — as a gift-with-purchase. The offer is available indefinitely, which means players can purchase Control Resonant on the Epic Games Store in the future and still receive the free skin.

The skin isn't exclusive to those who purchase Control Resonant on the Epic Games Store; it will be sold in the Item Shop at a later date. It is unknown when it will be available in-game, but it will likely happen on launch day. The Dylan Faden skin will cost 1,500 V-Bucks in the Item Shop. Players who purchase the skin in the shop first and then become eligible to receive this offer will get a one-time refund in V-Bucks (1,500 V-Bucks). However, if they refund the game at any point, the Dylan Faden skin or the 1,500 V-Bucks will be removed from their locker in Fortnite.

Control Resonant is able to innovate and push boundaries while preserving the feel of the original Control. According to Polygon's Giovanni Colantonio, "Though I still have some questions about the final project, my biggest ones have been answered by my hands-on time. Yes, Remedy can do Devil May Cry. Yes, the streets of Manhattan can be just as strange and alluring as The Oldest House. And yes, a full-on action RPG can still feel like Control. That’s enough to keep my faith in Remedy intact on the road to Control Resonant’s launch. I’ll go wherever the studio wants to take me; it has earned that trust." Players who are curious to learn more about this series still have plenty of time to give Control a go before Resonant launches.
