After years of rumors, leaks, delays, and endless speculation about whether Grand Theft Auto 6 might somehow become the first $100 video game, Rockstar Games has finally answered the question players have been asking for months, perhaps years: How much is GTA 6 actually going to cost? It hardly matters because millions of gamers will pay whatever price they need to in order to play the sequel to perhaps the single biggest game ever.

On Wednesday, ahead of pre-orders for GTA 6 going live, Rockstar officially confirmed the retail price for GTA 6 alongside pre-order details, special editions, and launch bonuses ahead of the game’s scheduled release on Nov. 19. The standard edition of GTA 6 will cost $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99 and includes a slew of exclusive cosmetic bonuses and shops.

Preorders are live at midnight on Thursday across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, with players who purchase early receiving the Vintage Vice City pack, according to Rockstar’s website. Players who pre-order GTA 6 before Nov. 20 will get the Vintage Vice City cosmetics pack, featuring throwback looks for Jason and Lucia.

Rockstar's pricing announcement came with a big caveat: The physical version of Grand Theft Auto 6 won't be on a disc, but will contain a download code inside the box. Pre-loading will be available starting Nov. 12, 2026.

Pricing for GTA 6 has become one of the gaming industry’s biggest ongoing debates over the past year. Major publishers including Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony have gradually pushed game prices higher throughout the current console generation, with standard AAA releases increasingly settling around the $70 mark. Analysts and fans alike have speculated that GTA 6 — arguably the most anticipated entertainment release of the decade — could become the game that finally pushes blockbuster game pricing even higher. That speculation intensified earlier this year after multiple industry analysts suggested publishers were closely watching Rockstar’s pricing strategy before making decisions on their own upcoming releases.

Rockstar plans to launch Grand Theft Auto 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on Nov. 19.
