GTA 6 Rating Officially Confirms Sex Will Indeed Be in the Game

Grand Theft Auto 6 is about to spice things up

Grand Theft Auto 6 is officially rated M for Mature, which isn't surprising at all — these games are all about playing a criminal, after all. However, it seems that players will be doing a lot more than committing crimes; there are actual sex scenes in-game that have been deemed worthy of a warning label.

PlayStation and Xbox have added age ratings to GTA 6's store pages across several regions. This gives us some idea of what to expect from the game's more extreme content. Alongside its Mature rating in the United States, there were the following warning labels: blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and use of drugs and alcohol.

These are the same labels seen on Grand Theft Auto 5's store page, so it wasn't particularly alarming. However, fans in New Zealand and Australia noticed a label GTA 6 didn't share with its predecessor. While both are rated R18+, GTA 5's warnings list "sexual material" and GTA 6 lists "sex scenes," indicating a difference between the two.

GTA 6 could feature Cyberpunk 2077-level sex scenes

Cyberpunk 2077's warning labels in New Zealand also mention "sex scenes." While in GTA 5, most sex scenes are comical, in Cyberpunk 2077, they are often meaningful parts of its story, used to further develop intimate relationships with other characters. Additionally, they're shot from a first-person perspective. Therefore, the "sex scene" vs. "sexual material" label may depend on how explicit the scene is, whether they're exclusively used for comical breaks in the story and feel mature rather than intimate, and how up close and personal the player gets in these sex scenes.

While nudist town will most likely give us the comical scenes we're used to, with naked women twerking as they threaten Jason and nude hillbillies making lewd statements, it's possible we will see more intimate scenarios as we develop Jason's relationship with Lucia. We won't have to wait long to find out, as Nov. 19 is just around the corner.
