Want to play a game where you capture and train mythical creatures while also attending magic academy classes? Well, of course you do. Combining Harry Potter and Pokémon seems like a winning formula in any book. Best of all, this stunning open world adventure is completely free to play very soon with a closed beta launching later this year and an international launch due in 2027. With more than 400 Jinies to find, there's never been a better time to catch 'em all!

Free to play can often make a lot of gamers nervous, but the developers are promising zero pay walls and zero boundaries. You'll be able to go anywhere and play anytime without fear of being bombarded with microtransactions and pay-to-win game mechanics. If you get bored with exploring the magical world of Carosia alone, you can play co-op with your friends. Just jump on your favorite Jini, grab a friend and set off on an adventure across an ever-evolving world.

Roco Kingdom Closed Beta Sign-up

Roco Kingdom is in the final stages of development by Morefun Studios and players can currently sign up to join the closed beta over on Steam. The game will be free to play for everyone when it officially launches later in 2027, but jumping onto the beta now gives players the chance to experience the magical world of Roco Kingdom before everyone else. Something to keep us all busy while we wait for Pokémon Winds & Waves to launch next year.

Taking your favorite Jini and testing their mettle in turn-based PvP combat is certainly nothing new to Pokémon fans, but with over 400 Jini to find, there is certainly plenty of scope for varied play styles. The developers promise every Jini will be unique, with each having different heights, weights and options for customization. You can even match costumes between your player character and your favorite Jini, making you stylish twins as you take to the battlefield.

When you're not capturing Jini, exploring the lands of Carosia or battling friends in combat arenas, there's still tons to do. Roco Kingdom will feature an academy of magic where you can attend classes, learn spells and partake in special seasonal magical events. Harry Potter returns this October (sort of) as you get the chance to explore your wizardry side with the Quack Quack closed beta going live for Roco Kingdom.

Roco Kingdom has already seen great success in China, so a closed beta this October will help reveal the game's qualities to the rest of the world. Getting the chance to meet the Jini of Light or co-ordinate your look with your favorite collected creature sounds like a lot of fun. If it can compete with the upcoming Pokémon Winds & Waves or at least steal some of the limelight away from Palworld, then it will no doubt be a huge success. With it being free to play, the only thing gamers have to lose is time.
