Good Smile Company has announced Hatsune Miku: Starry Party, a new "party action" game with chibi character designs coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam.
Though the teaser trailer, which you can watch below, is cute and colourful and features some catchy music, not much has been revealed about the gameplay at the time of writing. As for the potential release window, early 2027 is the current target, with English, Japanese, and Chinese (both traditional and simplified) as the confirmed languages.
The publisher has confirmed Hatsune Miku: Starry Party will allow "up to six players" to play together in what we can only assume will be music-based activities. The "action" part of the description is the head-scratcher; it might imply a more involved gameplay loop than regular rhythm game mechanics stitched together.
For those who don't really know who Hatsune Miku beyond the memes, Good Smile reminded everyone "Hatsune Miku is a music software developed by Crypton Future Media" that quickly evolved into a cultural phenomenon. "Since then, Hatsune Miku has gained much attention as a character," becoming the globally popular virtual singer who shows up in tons of collaborations these days.
Hatsune Miku already has a long history in video games too, so Starry Party isn't a novel idea on paper. It remains to be seen how the character and the surrounding phenomenon are given new life in what could be a co-op party game targeted at the growing global audience for such titles.
