How to unlock all outfits in Mario Kart World

Mario Kart World has dozens of unlockable outfits for its wide cast of characters. These outfits are technically classified as separate characters via the character select screen, but not every character gets outfits.

Characters pulled from background environments like Pianta or Dolphin don’t get any outfits, sadly, so your dream of seeing Cow in a cowboy outfit in-game may be dead, but lots of other characters do get outfits. Those characters are mostly those who are playable in other games, like Donkey Kong or Luigi. There’s no explicit classification here, but that’s what we’re going with.

Below we explain how to unlock character costumes in Mario Kart World.

How to unlock character outfits in Mario Kart World

To unlock outfits in Mario Kart World, you’ll need to locate the various Yoshi restaurants while playing as the character you want to unlock costumes for. Eating at the restaurant will unlock a respective outfit for said character, with different foods leading to different outfits.

For our guide, we tried to list the minimal number of places you will need to go to in order to unlock all the outfits. To unlock the outfits as fast as possible we recommend doing the following:

1. Complete each cup once so you unlock every costume-wearing character.
2. Head to each of the locations listed below.
3. Pick up a food nearby and then use it, unlocking a new outfit.
4. Swap to the next character that needs that food.
5. Repeat steps three and four until you finish with that food.
6. Head to the next location.

That being said, our table below is organized by character with no sorting features (sorry, that’s just… the tools we have), so you may need to do a little bit of ctrl + f to do the above strategy.

Below we list all the unlockable outfits and what foods to eat to get them. We’re still figuring some exact methods here, but we can at the very least confirm that the outfits listed below were unlocked via the respective method we’ve listed.
