J. Cole Cancels California Concert After Crew Member Dies in Trucking Accident
Cole had to take a pause.
As the "No Role Modelz" musician (real name Jermaine Lamarr Cole) continues his Fall-Off World Tour, his Aug. 27 stop in Sacramento, California, was canceled after a crew member died in a highway crash, the venue confirmed.
"Following the tragic passing of a member of the touring crew in a trucking accident this morning, J. Cole's show," Golden 1 Center's Aug. 27 Facebook post began, "has been canceled."
The message continued, "Our thoughts are with the crew member's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time."
The venue also shared additional information for fans planning to attend the 29th date of his international tour.
"Guests who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will be refunded automatically," the statement concluded. "Remaining guests may seek refunds at their original point of purchase."
E! News has reached out to Cole's reps and the California Highway Patrol for comment and has not yet heard back.
A rep for Cole confirmed to CBS News Sacramento that their driver had been bringing equipment for the show from Seattle—where the Grammy winner had performed Aug. 25—in a semi-truck before it crashed approximately 20 miles northwest of the state's capital.
The 18-wheeler had "rolled over" on the southbound I-5 around 6 a.m. local time, according to online California Highway Patrol traffic logs viewed by E! News. The single occupant was airlifted from the scene within 15 minutes of authorities arriving.
The logs also noted that 50 gallons of diesel had leaked, but it was ultimately contained. All highway lanes were reopened more than four hours later.

CHP Sgt. David Barker told the CBS local outlet that the driver—identified as Jarlath Parkinson, 66—had drifted onto the right shoulder of the highway before attempting to return to the road. He lost control and the truck had overturned.
Barker added that authorities are still piecing together how the accident occurred.
"It's unknown at this time, may have been a distraction or fell asleep," he said. "Unfortunately, the solo occupant did not survive the crash."
