Jamie Laing reveals he was robbed by a machete-wielding gang in Brazil as a teen on his gap year and reflects on his 'nightmare' honeymoon with Sophie Habboo as he recalls his travel highs and lows

Jamie Laing has regaled a terrifying story about being robbed by a machete-wielding gang in Brazil and also branded his honeymoon 'a nightmare'. 

The Made In Chelsea star, 37, shared his 'travel highs and lows' with The Sunday Times, in which he shed light on the ordeal from his trip to Rio de Janeiro. 

He said: 'We had some hairy moments. In Rio de Janeiro I was walking along Copacabana beach one night and when I turned around about eight men had horseshoed me in. One of them pulled out a machete...

'[He] held it to my throat I was robbed. I had to walk back to my friends in just my boxers. I really grew up on that trip. I flew home broke and several stone lighter.'

Jamie also laid bare details of his honeymoon with wife Sophie Habboo, after he chose to jet to Panama - yet were met with dizzying temperatures, humid conditions, a lost suitcase and delayed and missed flights. 

After tying the knot in 2023, the couple, who welcomed their son Ziggy in December, jetted away on their honeymoon, which Jamie recalled with dread. 

He said: 'Our honeymoon was a nightmare. I organised it and decided on Panama. The problem was we went in their summer? it was 38C and so humid...

'We flew from London to Amsterdam, then to Panama City and one of the islands. But our first flight was delayed, so we missed our connection and I didn't have a suitcase for the entire trip.'

His details of their honeymoon comes after Jamie shared a racy bikini snap of his stunning wife as they soaked up the sun in Mallorca with their son last week.

He took to his Instagram Story on Saturday to upload a picture of Sophie, 31, as she relaxed on a sun lounger. She showed off her incredible figure in a black bikini just seven months after giving birth - while topping up her tan.

Sophie also took to her own social media to share a look at the holiday as she looked sensational in a white co-ord. The blonde beauty doted on baby Ziggy as she cradled him in her arms as he wore a sweet straw hat.

The couple were in Mallorca for their former MIC co-star Emily Blackwell's wedding to Jordan Oldershaw last weekend and have continued their time on the island.

Sophie and Emily have been pals since their Made In Chelsea days, previously living together in a flat share with their co-star Miles Nazaire.

Their relationship was tested during the series when she began dating Sophie's ex Harvey Armstrong for two years. However, the two are now firm friends again.

A cohort of Emily's other Made In Chelsea co-stars jetted in for the celebrations, with Tiffany Watson, Ruby Adler, Lily Ludovici and Melissa Tattam leading the wedding party.

Jamie recently went viral for all the wrong reasons as he discussed wanting to have sex with her post birth.

In the clip, which now appears to have been removed from the original recording of the episode, Jamie brings up how he asked Sophie to have sex just three weeks after she gave birth to their son Ziggy.

He recalled: 'You were like, are you kidding me?' before Sophie went on to imitate her husband's reaction as she cried: 'You stamped your little arms and legs, and you were like 'I've waited a year,' and I was like, firstly, I actually physically cannot, I have stitches all over me down there.

'Secondly, I have to be signed off by the doctor, and you'd be like, 'Oh, that's bullshit, always an excuse with you'.'
