Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy shares their 'last moment together' as she marks two-year death anniversary

Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy shared a heartbroken Instagram video on Friday to mark the second anniversary of his death.

The influencer dated the singer for two years, until he died in October 2024 at the age of 31, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with alcohol and cocaine found in his system.

Cassidy, 27, commemorated '2 years' since the event on Friday by posting a video of Payne lifting her playfully into the air as she giggled ecstatically.

Urging viewers to 'treasure every moment with the people you love,' she wrote: 'Forever grateful this was our last hour, our last video, our last moment together.'

She concluded her reflection with a message to Payne accompanied by a dove emoji, telling him: 'Until the next life. I'll see you again.'

That night, at a concert in New York, Payne's One Direction bandmate Harry Styles tearfully introduced a never-before-heard song dedicated to his late friend.

'There are so many people in my life, friends and people that I've worked with that I wouldn't have been able to do this without,' he said onstage that night. 'And two years ago today, I lost one of those friends.'

Styles, who achieved global superstardom in One Direction with Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, then introduced his new song.

Entitled What Is Enough, the number included the lyric: 'I could tell you what it’s like, to bury a friend on a Wednesday night gathered in the garden around a fire.'

All four of Payne's One Direction bandmates attended his funeral in Buckinghamshire on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, as did Cassidy.

Also present was Payne's ex-girlfriend Cheryl, whom he dated from 2016 to 2018 and who is the mother of his nine-year-old son Bear Grey.

Cassidy's latest Instagram homage to Payne comes nearly two months after she paid tribute to him on what would have been his 33rd birthday.

She posted a montage of photos with the caption: 'Your birthday will always be your day. Loving you, remembering you, missing you always. Happy birthday Liam.'

Photos included Payne with their rescue dog Nala, on nights out and relaxing in their garden.

It comes after Cassidy revealed she is having her 'angel' tattoo tribute removed from her hand.

Cassidy shared a video from the tattoo removal studio as she had '444' lasered from her left hand, 21 months after the One Direction star tragically died.

She originally got the inking, as well as 'LP' on her wrist, in the months after Liam died as the numbers had a special significance to the couple as it was their 'angel number'.

It's an ideology that arguably roots back to the sixth century in Ancient Greece with the Pythagoreans, who believed that numbers had mystic, spiritual properties to create positivity and guidance.

Cassidy snapped a mirror selfie wearing the safety goggles ahead of the removal before sharing a clip of the '444' being erased from her hand.

However, the influencer revealed that she has 'decided to get some tattoos removed that were done poorly' and insisted she 'will be getting them redone eventually'.

The social media star often shares tributes to her late boyfriend and signs them off using their angel number '444'.

She also previously shared a romantic note that Payne had written to her but asked her not to read until later. In the note, Payne expressed his wish to be engaged and married within a year, signing it with the phrase: 'Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged and together forever 444'.

Earlier this month, Cassidy broke down in floods of tears as she read old love letters from the late One Direction star.

Taking to Instagram, Cassidy couldn't hold back her tears in an emotional video as she detailed trying to move on amid her grief.

The blonde beauty explained that she was sitting in her basement surrounded by piles of love letters handwritten by Payne.

'Sometimes when I just feel sad I read old letters that Liam wrote me which make me more sad,' she said.

'I almost feel like people don't write letters and I have a mountain of letters and journals and books and all of these things he has left me.'

Cassidy continued: 'I was just reading this one letter and I have to say sometimes his handwriting is a little messy.

'So sometimes I struggle reading his letters, but for my birthday he bought me a car. I'm like shaking because I'm getting sad,' she confessed.

'I haven't read this letter in so long. I feel like if you've lost somebody, it almost helps to read a letter and think as if they wrote it literally like from heaven and they're giving it to you like today.'

Reading Payne's letter out loud, Cassidy said: 'I hope whenever you take a journey you remember I'm alongside you body and spirit.

'In every drive you remember how much you have driven me and all the hopes and dreams I have for your future.

'You're going to be a superstar if you learn how to love yourself the way I love you.

'So drive slow and remember to take your foot off the gas in life too. Your 20s are so difficult and you're halfway through navigating them.

'You're not lost at all my love. You're taking the gorgeous road to finding yourself and I can't wait to be there for every speed bump, left and right turn and roundabout. I love you.'

Cassidy then broke down in tears after struggling to get through the short note she read.

'I know he's like cheering me on from up above and he's watching me navigate through my life.

'There are moments in life when I am so unmotivated and stressed out but reading those few sentences makes me want to work harder and push myself hard to see what I can do in this lifetime.

'This is why it's so important to write your loved ones letters.'
