Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Developer Revealed to be Studio That Worked on Skyward Sword HD

The upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive Luigi's Mansion 2 HD developer has been revealed as Tantalus Media.

In a new report by Video Games Chronicle, sources close to the outlet confirmed that the Australian-based developer is responsible for the remaster of the 2013 Nintendo 3DS game Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

If you are unfamiliar with Tantalus Media, you likely have played at least one of their games, as the studio has a history of working with big publishers, including Nintendo, Sega, and Microsoft. A few of the projects Tantalus Media has worked on include the HD remasters for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, the Nintendo Switch port of Sonic Mania, the PC port of the original The House of the Dead, and assisted on the development of the Definitive Editions for Age of Empires 1-3.

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is not the only instance where Nintendo was tight lipped about disclosing who worked on an updated version of one of its previously released games. Last year, Nintendo made it difficult for people to find out who developed the Super Mario RPG remake and was secretive about who was voicing Mario in Super Mario Wonder after the original voice actor, Charles Martinet, retired.

"Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is a great installment in Nintendo's spectre-snaring series, even if it's not the best one you can play on the Switch," my colleague Tristan Ogilvie wrote in his review.

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is out on June 27 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
