Madonna looked to be having the time of her life as she took over a tiny Corfu village made famous by ITV series The Durrells for her 68th birthday party on Sunday.

The Queen of Pop stunned locals in Kouramades as she danced in the streets with her children and boyfriend Akeem Morris until 2am.

The quaint village, which has just 180 residents, was one of the locations used on the hit ITV show, which starred Keeley Hawes.

Madonna had reportedly booked out a traditional local taverna Atzaro and had flown in an Italian child choir to perform during the night.

She was later sung happy birthday to by her nearest and dearest and blew out the candles on her white and gold heart-shaped cake with an eye on top.

A source told The Sun: 'No one could believe Madonna was coming until she actually turned up. The security measures were pretty intense and there was a police presence, as well as Madonna's security to keep her safe.

'She wanted to visit the central church but they cancelled it because there was quite a crowd gathering. They headed to Atzaro for dinner and that was really special. Singers and a children's choir from Italy performed as they ate traditional meals.

'Just before midnight, the group started dancing to the Zorba The Greek song and a birthday cake came out. They sang the birthday song three times and then danced until 2am. Once they left, the crowds that had gathered outside started clapping and chanting her name.'

Madonna looked every inch the proud mother as she posed with daughters Lourdes Leon, 29, Mercy James, 20, and twins Stella and Estere, 13, and son Rocco Ritchie, 26, during the bash.

Also in attendance was her toyboy love Akeem, 30.

The Confessions II hitmaker is also mom to son David Banda, 20, who was not seen in the post.

Madonna caught the eye in an ornate Dolce & Gabbana dress paired with a floral headpiece as she celebrated her day.

She wowed in a second look comprised of a sheer white dress, gold chains and a shawl and parasol.

Stealing the spotlight off their superstar mom, Lourdes, whose dad is Carlos Leon, and Rocco, whose father is director Guy Ritchie, indulged in a spot of traditional Greek dancing.

'It's My Birthday! Eat, Pray, Love,Drink, Dance, Break plates, Feed Cats!! Thank you G*D!' Madonna wrote.

Madonna has just released her latest album Confessions II, a follow-up to her 2005 smash hit Confessions on a Dance Floor.

The nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards were unveiled Tuesday morning, with Madonna emerging as the artist with the most nods.

Madonna is in competition for a staggering 11 prizes, narrowly beating out Taylor Swift, who has nods in nine categories.

They will be vying against each other for the evening's top honor, video of the year, with Swift up for The Fate of Ophelia and Madonna for Confessions II (The Film).

One of the songs on the album is The Test, a duet with Lourdes, who has followed in her mother's footsteps to pursue her own career as a singer.

Madonna sings candidly to her daughter about how she 'tried to put you on a pedestal,' although Lourdes herself 'didn't ask for all the flashing lights.'

While Madonna and Lourdes are now close and often collaborate together, the pair have touched on their issues in past interviews.

In 2021, Lourdes called her mother a 'control freak' and admitted that she paid for her own college tuition and first apartment to escape her.

'We don’t get any handouts in my family. Obviously, I grew up with extreme privilege. There’s no denying that,' she explained to Interview magazine.

'But I think my mom saw all these other kids of famous people, and she was like, "My kids are not going to be like this."

'Also, I feel like if your parents pay for things, then it gives them leverage over you. My mom is such a control freak, and she has controlled me my whole life. I needed to be completely independent from her as soon as I graduated high school.'

In a 2019 interview with Vogue, Madonna praised her 'insanely talented' eldest child but said that she lacked the same drive that had made her a household name.

Since branching out on her own, Lourdes has found work as a model, a celebrity socialite and as an indie musician.
