Magic Universes Beyond 2027 release dates revealed at MagicCon Amsterdam

Magic: The Gathering still has three more sets to release in 2026, but at MagiCon: Amsterdam on Friday, the game's publisher, Wizards of the Coast, revealed a full schedule for 2027, including six new sets and four new MagicCons. The calendar includes the release dates for three in-universe expansions along with three more Universes Beyond sets (that's down from four UB sets in 2026). However, Wizards didn't reveal what those new Universes Beyond sets will entail. We'll likely have to wait until MagicCon: Atlanta in fall 2026 to find out. In the meantime, read on for a full breakdown of the 2027 Magic: The Gathering release calendar.

Magic's Universes Beyond 2027 sets

Details are scarce here, but we know that Universes Beyond sets will be released on the following dates:

April 9, 2027
Aug. 6, 2027
Nov. 19, 2027

We still have no idea what any of those sets will be about, although it seems all but certain that one of them will continue the trend of Marvel crossovers (probably X-Men or Guardians of the Galaxy). Beyond that, anything seems possible.

Magic's Multiverse 2027 sets

We know a lot more about Magic's next batch of in-universe (or multiverse) sets for 2027.

Kicking off the year on Feb. 5 is Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, a brand-new underwater world. We don't know much about this one yet, but expect plenty of merfolk.

Next up on June 4, Magic is heading back to Kamigawa, but with a twist. The Japan-inspired plane is being invaded by the monster-filled world of Ikoria, which means massive monsters will terrorize the plane and face off against mecha pilots. Basically, it's Pacific Rim in Magic, aka, Kamigawa: Titanbreach.

Finally, on Oct. 1, we'll get Zhalfir. This is the first set focused on this Wakanda-esque plane, which was introduced in the 2023 crossover set, March of the Machines. Zhalfir is also home to the legendary hero Teferi, so maybe we'll find out what he's been up to.
