Margot Robbie drops her maiden name and starts using her British husband's surname a decade after tying the knot

Margot Robbie has one of the most bankable names in Hollywood – but it turns out that away from the red carpet she now uses a different identity.

The actress, 36, has dropped her surname and adopted that of her British husband, film producer Tom Ackerley, 36, for business matters.

She’s now Margot Elise Ackerley, according to Companies House, which published new documents confirming the change this week.

The couple, who met on the set of Second World War drama Suite Francaise, run the production firm LuckyChap Entertainment. 

They co-founded the company in 2014, two years before they married. 

They have produced films including the Academy Award-winning I, Tonya and Promising Young Woman, Saltburn and Wuthering Heights as well as the 2023 blockbuster Barbie, all under their LuckyChap Entertainment banner.

Margot was said to have made a staggering $50million (£37million) for starring in and producing Barbie.

The Australian actress earned a bumper paycheque for her part in the movie, which earned more than $1.4billion (£1billion) at the box office.

Margot met her future husband, Tom,  in 2013 when she played a supporting role in the Second World War movie Suite Francaise. Tom was the assistant director.

The actress, Tom and five others in the London-based film crew got on so well that they decided to move in together.

The housemates got on so well that in 2014, four of them – Margot, Tom, Sophia Kerr and Josey McNamara – founded production company, LuckyChap. 

The couple left their house share for their own home in west London before moving to Los Angeles in 2017.

In December 2016, Margot and Tom married during a private ceremony in Byron Bay.

They welcomed their son on October 17, 2024.
