Marvel's New Deadpools Are Here, And They're Pure Nightmare Fuel

Marvel introduces multiple new versions of Deadpool, and they have nothing to do with the multiverse. Wade Wilson is unique among Marvel's thousands of heroes due to his fourth-wall-breaking abilities and his comedic self-awareness, which often surpasses those of She-Hulk, Howard the Duck, and Squirrel Girl. However, there are countless Mercs With A Mouth across the multiverse, and many of them aren't nearly as capable or lucky as Marvel's main Wade. Titles like Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again show hundreds of alternate-universe Deadpools meeting their end off-screen, never to be seen again.

Besides Wade Wilson and his infinite multiversal variants, Deadpool is joined by the Deadpool Corps, the team of masked mercenaries that include Lady Deadpool, Kidpool, Dogpool, and the disembodied Headpool. Ellie Camacho also inherits Wade's powers and develops photographic memory, earning the Deadpool mantle as she fights alongside her father. In the year 2099, Wade's other daughter Warda Wilson takes up the title, wearing a high-tech version of the classic red-and-black suit.

The number of Deadpools in the Marvel multiverse continues to grow. As Wade Wilson now realizes, Evil Deadpool may not be the only living being created by bringing together all the limbs and body parts he has left lying around.

Wade Wilson Meets Multiple Misshapen Evil Deadpools

Deadpool recently survived Hammerhead's wrath through sheer endurance and with the help of seemingly anonymous warnings from the future. However, as Wade himself wonders, Wade Wilson: Deadpool continues after he came out of this trial alive. His question is answered soon, as Wade immediately comes across a group of monstrous creatures wearing his costume and underwear inside a sewer. All these monsters look drastically different from each other, each with a different number and shape of eyes and limbs, and they welcome Deadpool by saying, "You are me! You are us... and we are you."

These Deadpools' mutated appearance and their first line of dialog strongly suggest they are regenerated body parts that gained sentience after the original Wade Wilson left them behind on the battlefield. This is exactly how Evil Deadpool was born; he gained consciousness and developed a single personality after various discarded body parts healed together. Feeling abandoned by the original Merc With A Mouth, Evil Deadpool swore to torment Wade Wilson. And given that little has changed since Evil Deadpool's creation, Wade's countless injuries appear to have birthed multiple new Evil Deadpools, most of whom haven't had the chance to complete their body properly.

Deadpool's Healing Factor Makes No Sense, And That's Great For Wade Wilson

Defying Logic Is Deadpool's Appeal

Wade Wilson’s regenerative healing factor defies almost every biological and physical law within the Marvel Universe. Deadpool can easily regenerate his entire body from a single droplet of blood or a microscopic piece of tissue, ignoring the law of conservation of mass. Even when not obliterated, Deadpool somehow continues to fight through broken bones that shouldn't support his body weight. Wade's healing factor often extends to his non-biological gear, as he regularly steps out of explosions with his costume seamlessly repaired alongside his flesh and skin. After all, Wade would have to fight completely naked most of the time.

This disregard for biological consistency is precisely what makes Wade's healing factor a blessing for Deadpool's chaotic lifestyle. Since Wade's cells refuse to accept death, he leaves a trail of discarded limbs and organs across every battlefield. This massive surplus of abandoned body parts not only has allowed new beings to gain sentience, but it has also triggered a "Ship of Theseus" dilemma. With his brain and body completely replaced every few months, the modern Wade Wilson is an entirely different physical being than the man who originally entered the Weapon X program, yet his memories and personality remain the same.
