Matt Damon Shares Insight Into Daughter Alexia's Career in Hollywood
Matt Damon is his family’s muse.
The Odyssey actor detailed how his stepdaughter Alexia Barroso, 27, also fell in love with filmmaking and is now working as a cinematographer.
“She's done about 12 movies,” Matt told E! News during an exclusive interview. “[She’s] worked on the camera team all over the world.”
In fact, Alexia—the daughter of Matt’s wife Luciana Barroso Damon and her ex-husband Arbello Barroso—has even worked in the camera department on a few of his films, including 2021’s The Last Duel and 2024’s The Instigators.
As for whether Matt and Luciana’s other daughters Isabella Damon, 20, Gia Damon, 17, and Stella Damon, 15, are planning to pursue the family business?
“The other three might,” the Good Will Hunting screenwriter continued. “I have one who's at NYU now, who's a fantastic writer, so I could see her following me into screenwriting. And we have two still in high school, so we'll see.”
Regardless, Matt always keeps his daughters close in spirit. After all, his portrayal in The Odyssey—which costars Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya and Lupita Nyong’o—was influenced by missing his girls while on set.
“It was a very easy feeling to tap into,” he said of his character Odysseus’ longing to return home. “My kids came over and visited it at times, but there were long stretches where we were apart. So, obviously I was thinking about a lot of the same stuff that Odysseus was thinking about.”
But that’s not to say the Oscar winner will turn down a future opportunity to work with director Christopher Nolan again.

“I absolutely love the way he works,” shared Matt, who also starred in filmmaker’s 2014 movie Interstellar and 2023 film Oppenheimer. “I love his crew. These experiences I've had have been just phenomenal, and he just prioritizes the project that he's working on, and just a great person to collaborate with.”
Plus, as Matt put it, “And I also just happen to be a fan of his movies, which really helps.”
