Maya Jama is becoming the British Kim Kardashian after stealing the star's style, building a list of famous exes and launching her own business

Last week it was revealed that Maya Jama has called upon Soki Mak to dress her for The Gentlemen season two premiere – which will see her make her acting debut. 

It's been reported that the pair crossed paths during a visit to the States and quickly agreed to work together together. 

Scottish stylist Soki is renowned in celebrity cycles for working closely with Kim Kardashian – and is the visionary behind some of Kim's most iconic looks. 

While Maya often works with Rhea Francois to curate her wardrobe, it's hardly surprising that she's turned to Kim's right hand woman, having slowly begun to emulate the American superstar. 

From turning out an array of headline-grabbing looks to nabbing a series of high-profile boyfriends and also launching her own business, it's clear that the Love Island host has plenty in common with the world's most famous reality star. 

Now, the Daily Mail reveals how Maya Jama is fast becoming the UK's version of Kim Kardashian.  

Similar styles  

Prior to hiring Soki, Maya had already been channelling Kim with some of her stylish ensembles for years. 

She went viral when she strutted into the Love Island in 2023 wearing a £1,500 black Mônot cut out dress that perfectly showcased her curves. 

She later said, 'I’ve never felt more confident in a dress,' adding: 'The reaction online was insane – within hours of me wearing it, it had completely sold out. 

'It was, quite literally, a showstopper. When I bumped into the designer, Eli Mizrahi, in Ibiza this summer, he was like, "Who is this girl?" because the dress had gone so viral. He told me that had never happened before. 

'It was crazy how one single appearance could become such a significant fashion moment for me and for the brand. It’s proof that the right dress at the right time can be a true life or career-defining thing.'

Yet Kim fans will have noticed it bore a striking resemblance to the vintage Thierry Mugler gown that Kim famously wore to the Hollywood Beauty Awards in 2019. 

The sexy cutout number came from the Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1998 line, with Kim later thanking the fashion house for letting her borrow the 'iconic' gown.  

In 2018, Kim turned heads when she wore a naked optical illusion Jean Paul Gaultier dress to the People's Choice Awards. 

Maya then modelled a near-identical version when she headed for dinner with pals at Bacchanalia restaurant in Mayfair five years later. 

After Kim sported an array of silver Dolce and Gabbana looks, Maya also started wearing similar ensembles, even down to copying Kim's chunky cross necklace. 

She also seemed to take style inspiration from a selfie Kim snapped in a newspaper print top – mimicking the look right down to the same hairstyle. 

Maya is also unapologetically confident when it comes to her fashion. 

In 2020, Maya was trolled for wearing 'revealing' outfits on BBC1 series Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer.

Yet the former radio DJ hit back, telling the Daily Mail that her critics were 'hyper sexualising' her body rather than celebrating the fact a woman was fronting a primetime show.

Maya said: 'I've always worn the same thing but when I was slimmer nobody commented on it and as soon as you have got a fuller figure people are shocked and insulted by your body, so I found it ridiculous.

'I've been wearing the same outfits, the same cut tops, my entire career and there was never really that many comments on it until I started putting on a bit of weight.

'I was like "Gosh, if you're shocked at boobs or even just a bit of cleavage on telly, I don't know how people cope when they go to the swimming pool or the beach because there's a lot more boobs on show there".

'It's a woman's body – I don't feel like it should cause such outrage. I'm going to continue to dress how I've always dressed no matter what size I am.'

Fashion campaigns  

Over the years Maya has fronted several fashion campaigns for the likes of Adidas, Levi and Gap. 

Yet her most prominent deal was with Dolce & Gabbana, with Maya unveiled as the face of the Fall/Winter 2023-24 collection in a sultry, futuristic campaign shot by  Steven Meisel. 

Discussing Maya's appointment in a statement, D&G shared: 'Maya’s star has risen and she is now an influential female icon in contemporary culture. 

'[She] poses with self-assurance and elegance.'

Yet Kim beat Maya to the punch when it came to working with the fashion brand, as  curator and face for their Spring/Summer 2023 Ciao Kim collection and global advertising campaign.

In an official statement, the brand declared: 'Kim Kardashian is the contemporary diva and the ultimate muse.' 

They added her 'confidence, independence, and sensuality' heavily inspired the archival choices. 

Business brains  

With both Maya and Kim renowned for their beauty, they've also proved they have the brains. 

Maya has shown entrepreneurial spirit with her skincare company, MIJ Masks, which is said to be worth over £300,000 after she created it in 2021.

She is also an investor and co-owner of the Swedish yellow split-pea milk brand, Sproud, serving as a strategic advisor and public face for the company.

Maya is also one of many celebrities who clubbed together to launch a collective to invest in tech startups, following in the footsteps of athletes who have bolstered their portfolios.

Founded by musicians, actors and TV stars, The Artists Collective has already invested in over 20 early-stage tech companies.

It targets companies at the Seed and Series A stages, writing cheques of between £50,000 and £300,000 with a focus on AI, software, cybersecurity, fintech, health and media. 

Meanwhile, Kim has reached billionaire status after several successful investments and launching a slew of companies. 

She first opened the DASH Boutique stores with her sisters Kourtney and Khloe in 2006, but they opted to close all locations in 2018. 

Kim went on to launch beauty and fragrance line, and even her own video game, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. 

Her active primary active business ventures now include SKIMS, the multi-billion-dollar shapewear and loungewear brand; SKKN BY KIM, a luxury skincare line; and SKKY Partners, a private equity firm she co-founded focusing on consumer and luxury brands. 

Famous partners 

Another thing Maya and Kim have in common is a little black book full of A-list names. 

Maya notably dated rapper Stormzy on and off from 2015 to 2024, and while arguably the Crown hitmaker was more well known than she was when they first got together, her star power is now on par. 

After her initial split from Stormzy she started dating basketball player Ben Simmons and the pair even got engaged before separating in August 2022 due to work and travel schedules.

Most recently she dated Manchester City footballer Ruben Dias. They split in April after dating for roughly 18 months.

While not confirmed, Maya has also been linked to the likes of Drake and Leonardo DiCaprio. 

As for Kim, her high-profile dating history includes three marriages - to music producer Damon Thomas, NBA player Kris Humphries, and rapper Kanye West. 

She also had prominent relationships with singer Ray J, presenter Nick Cannon, NFL star Reggie Bush, and comedian Pete Davidson.

Kim is currently loved up with Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton. 

Acting ambitions 

Maya has enlisted the help of Kim's stylist for The Gentleman premiere - which will see her make her acting debut when the Netflix season is released on September 3.

The series, which landed in 2024 and carries the same name as the 2019 movie, is returning for a second season. 

The Gentleman stars Vinnie Jones as hardman Geoffrey Seacombe and Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass, the daughter of Ray Winstone's crime boss character.

Now Maya is set to play the glamorous wife of one of Theo James' on-screen associates in the show.

An insider told Daily Mail: ‘Netflix have a lot of confidence in the second series being just as popular as the first.

‘It’s set to air later this year and bosses are counting on Maya Jama to add the sex factor the first series was lacking.'

Kim has also pivoted to acting roles of late, and in 2023 she was cast as publicist Siobhan Corbyn in American Horror Story: Delicate. 

More recently, she played powerhouse divorce attorney Allura Grant in the Disney/Hulu series All's Fair, which has just been commissioned for a second season despite being universally panned by critics.
