Jeff Dodge (he/him), a published author and graduate of Western Washington University, has been a TV news editor for many years and has had the chance to interview multiple reality show stars, including Randy Jackson, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum, Mel B and John Cena. Fun Fact: he’s been to every single Idol Live! Tour.
With five months until Narnia: The Magician's Nephew is released in theaters, Netflix has just revealed a first look at the most iconic character in the entire franchise.
Oscar-nominated director and screenwriter Greta Gerwig is reimagining the beloved fantasy series for the popular streamer with an adaptation of C.S. Lewis' The Magician's Nephew, which has never been seen on screen before. The film arrives in theaters on February 12, 2027, and then is released on Netflix two months later on April 2.
Now, Empire has unveiled the cover of its next issue (on sale September 24), which shows a first look of the lion Aslan looking straight at the camera. His appearance differs slightly from previous depictions of the character, in that his eyes are two different colors and his face is covered in different designs and textures.

Gerwig told Empire that she wanted to cast an actor in the role who was "profound but not pretentious, who had gravitas but not morose self-seriousness. Someone who could communicate depth and pathos as well as joy and delight." The filmmaker also wanted to cast someone older than 70 years old so that a "wisdom of experience" could be heard in Aslan's voice.
