Nine's 'hot social reporter' Taylor Haynes tipped to take over weather presenter seat on Today as Tim Davies quits the role after seven years

Glamorous social media reporter Taylor Haynes is rumoured to be the young gun taking over the role of weather presenter on Today following Tim Davies' departure.

The soon-to-be former weatherman, 42, has announced his final bulletin will be on September 18 after seven years in the role.

And sources tell the Daily Mail that Haynes, 27, is set to step into his shoes in three weeks' time, after working as the permanent fill-in for the position for two years.

Haynes was promoted from a producer role to social reporter in February 2023, making headlines for sharing stunning bikini photos online.

She has since covered major sporting events, red carpets, entertainment and weather.

Earlier this year, she even went viral when a large crab crushed her finger with its claw during a live cross, causing severe nerve damage. 

Haynes got her start at Nine as Sonia Kruger's personal assistant after first catching the showbusiness bug in 2018 when she attended a live recording of The Voice.

'I told my mother this is what I want to do. I want to be like host Sonia Kruger. I'm going to work on this show,' she previously told Body + Soul. 

She later spent three years as a producer with Nine before being promoted to social reporter. 

Haynes, the daughter of Illawarra-based i98fm breakfast radio host Marty Haynes, is also a prolific user of Instagram, where she likes to post bikini photos.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Nine for comment. 

It comes just hours after Today show weatherman Davies announced his shock departure from the Channel Nine breakfast program after seven years in the role.

After more than 900 flights, Davies' final weather bulletin is set to air on September 18, 2026.

His departure follows seven years of early starts, nationwide travel and countless memorable live broadcasts that made him one of Australian breakfast television's most recognisable weather presenters.

Davies admitted the decision was bittersweet but said the time felt right to step away from the relentless travel schedule.

'People always tell me I've got the best job in TV and they're not wrong,' he said.

'Working alongside the best broadcasters, travelling to new destinations daily and showcasing incredible Aussies is a privilege.'

The presenter added that delivering uplifting stories had been one of the greatest rewards of the role.

'Not all journos get to deliver good news, good vibes and a smile with each story, so having achieved all that and so much more, this seems like the right time to step back, enjoy a sleep-in, take a break without a camera crew and prepare for my next adventure.'

Davies, who joined Today in 2019, has become a familiar face to viewers due to his action-packed weather crosses from every corner of Australia.

During his time on the program, he has taken part in a string of heart-racing stunts live on air, including skydiving, bungee jumping, abseiling down towering attractions, racing high-performance vehicles and even getting up close and personal with sharks and crocodiles.

Director of Morning Television Steven Burling paid tribute to Davies, praising the impact he had on regional communities throughout Australia.

'Tim is a much-loved member of the Today hosting family and he leaves enormous shoes to fill,' Burling said.

'During his time, he's given a platform to small towns and communities, showcasing their people and causes to a national audience, and that will leave a lasting impact.'

Burling also revealed the network fully supports Davies' decision to slow down after years of constant travel.

'We are fully supportive of Tim laying down some roots after seven years of living out of a suitcase,' he said.

'I'd like to thank Tim for all he's contributed to the show. I know the team and the audience will greatly miss him.'

Nine has confirmed an announcement regarding Davies' replacement will be made in the coming weeks.
