OnlyFans' Courtney Clenney Pleads Guilty in Death of Boyfriend

"The written plea agreement is signed by, not only the state but the defendant and also her attorneys," prosecutor Shawn Abuhoff told Judge Wolfson during her sentencing. "She is agreeing and admitting that she is the cause of the stab wound that Mr. Obumseli received and that she is taking criminal responsibility for her actions."

Abuhoff emphasized that if the model violates her probation at any point, "She's waiving extradition back to Florida" and can face between 10 and 30 years in state prison.

Following the sentencing, Obumseli's cousin Karen Egbuna delivered a victim impact statement on behalf of his mom.

"There is simply too much pain to put on paper," Egbuna read aloud. "That was the darkest day of my life, and the darkness continued to unfold as I learned Christian had been killed by his girlfriend Courtney Clenney, someone he had trusted and loved."

"I have lived with fear, anxiety, sleepless nights, heartache, and more tears than I could ever count," she continued. "There are moments when my mind goes back to the last moments of Christian's life. As his mother, those thoughts are very difficult for me to carry. There was a joy in my life and in our family's life before Christian died that has never completely returned."

The Miami-Dade Police Department said they responded to a call on April 3, 2022, around 5 p.m., and found Obumseli suffering from "an apparent knife wound." He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he later died of his injury.

Clenney—who went by the name Courtney Tailor in her modeling career—said she had acted in self-defense that day. 

"There is no doubt the two of them had a tumultuous relationship; moreover, there is evidence that Courtney was a victim of physical, emotional, and mental abuse at the hands of Obumseli," her lawyer Frank Prieto said in a statement to E! News at the time. "That night was no different and Courtney had the right to defend herself out of fear for her life."

He later alleged that Obumseli had "attacked her and choked her that evening," saying in a statement in August 2022, "Courtney had no choice but to meet force with force."

That month, Clenney was arrested and charged with second-degree murder with a deadly weapon while visiting Hawai'i, where she was "seeking treatment for her PTSD and related issues to this case," according to Prieto.

Her attorney condemned authorities for taking her into custody, saying they were "disappointed" the state attorney sought an arrest warrant instead of having her self-surrender.

"We have cooperated with the investigation from the beginning with both the State and the City of Miami Police Department," the lawyer said. "We have always offered to self-surrender if charges were filed in an effort to begin the legal process of clearing her of the charges."

At the time, she pleaded not guilty. 

Meanwhile, Egbuna cast doubt on Clenney's story, saying at an April 2022 press conference that the family didn't have reason to believe her killing was an act of self-defense, according to NBC Miami.

"Devastation doesn't quite describe what my family's experiencing now," Egbuna said, per NBC Dallas. "This is one of the youngest in the family, he is loved, he is kind, he is caring, soft-spoken, the idea that this is somehow warranted, is unthinkable."

His brother Jeffrey Obumseli shared the same sentiment, saying, "There's many unanswered questions and we just want justice for our brother."

Following his death, the 27-year-old—who studied engineering at Texas Tech University—was remembered as "a free spirit with larger than life dreams," with his obituary noting, "His fun-loving attitude allowed him to be comfortable in almost any atmosphere. Toby was known for his caring and giving nature, which made people want to be around him as often as possible."
