How to Watch Oscars 2026 and Live From E! Red Carpet
Yvette Nicole Brown knows it'll take a village to make the Community movie happen.
As the Zootopia 2 star walked the Oscars 2026 red carpet she shared an update on where the film adaptation of the beloved NBC sitcom that also stars Joel McHale, Alison Brie and Donald Glover stands.
“Hope springs eternal with that Community movie,” Yvette joked to Zuri Hall during the Live From E!: Oscars red carpet March 15. “We all want to do it, which I think people should be most excited about, that everyone’s on board.” (To see everyone on the Oscars 2026 red carpet, see here.)
But while everyone is on board for the project, Yvette—whose film is up for Best Animated Feature alongside Arco, Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, KPop Demon Hunters and Elio—admitted it’s still an uphill battle to find the right time to shoot. (For every winner so far, see here.)
“It’s just, everybody is so busy,” she continued. “You’ve got to corral Donald Glover, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong. There’s so many people and talented people. How do you do it?"
Yvette’s update comes shortly after Community writer Andrew Guest revealed on The Watch podcast last month that the film was stalled due to working around the cast’s extremely busy schedules. Indeed, as Yvette joked, it was even a struggle for her to even make it to the red carpet for the 98th Academy Award ceremony, which is set to be hosted by Conan O’Brien.
“It was a marathon at the house,” the Drake & Josh alum quipped, adding that her husband Anthony Davis assisted in her prep. “Tony, I love you. Tony made sure my shoes were on, my nails were looking good.”
Yvette’s update on the Community film adaptation, which follows the show’s 2015 finale, comes over two years after her costar Joel shared insight into the project.

“Donald has agreed to do it,” Joel confirmed in an E! News interview in 2024, noting that was the hardest part of making it happen, joking, “We paid him $52 million.”
