Reacher Spinoff Neagley Officially Returning for Season 2

Amazon MGM sets the fate of Reacher's chart-topping spinoff

Prime Video's Reacher-verse is growing again. Just days after Amazon MGM Studios confirmed a sixth season of Reacher is coming, the company announced that we're getting even more of its first spinoff, Neagley. That's somewhat unsurprising, given that Neagley is currently the No. 1 TV show on Prime Video, two weeks after the eight-episode crime drama started streaming on the service.

Neagley debuted on Prime Video on Sept. 16. The Reacher spinoff has been a hit since day one, likely due to the fact that Neagley gave fans of the Alan Ritchson-led series a fresh batch of new content the same day that Reacher season 4 ended.

Amazon MGM said in a news release that Neagley reached 40 million viewers in its first 13 days on Prime Video, and has since become its fourth most-watched series debut. That's close to Reacher's viewership numbers; Reacher season 4 reached 66 million viewers globally in its first 28 days on Prime Video, according to Amazon. It certainly helps that Ritchson reprised his role as Jack Reacher in the spinoff as a guest star.

What is Neagley about?

Neagley stars Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, a private investigator in Chicago and former military protégé of Jack Reacher in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit. Sten co-starred in the first three seasons of Reacher. In her stand-alone show, Neagley learns that a friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident. She becomes hellbent on justice, putting herself on a dangerous path to uncovering a menacing evil. Neagley is based on the character created by Lee Child, but unlike Reacher, the series is not a direct adaptation of the author's novels.

"Maria Sten delivers a commanding, layered performance that drives every episode, and Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton have built a world that is both thrilling and compelling. We are excited to continue this story and explore what’s next for Neagley with our partners at Paramount Television Studios."

Amazon MGM did not announce a release window for Neagley season 2, but based on the first season's production, Reacher fans likely won't get it until 2028. With Reacher season 5 expected sometime in 2027, it should give fans of the action franchise something to tide them over until season 6.
