Robbie Williams 'throws shade' at Olivia Rodrigo as fans claim her Christmas single echoes his hit
Robbie Williams has been accused of 'throwing shade' at Olivia Rodrigo as she dropped her first ever Christmas single.
Listeners have compared the popstar's, 23, new song, Take Me Home 4 Christmas to Robbie's, 52, 2012 hit Candy.
Fans took to social media to upload videos of the two tracks overlapping to what some people believe are similar notes and melodies.
And the videos even caught the attention of Robbie who had his say on X, he simply wrote: 'Happy Christmas @oliviarodrigo x'
Fans rushed to the comments: 'Like stealing Candy from a legend @robbiewilliams';
'It sounds like "candy!"; Not this shade, Oh copylivia; Sue her Robbie she stole your song!; Could be a great Christmas for you Rob, get those copyright lawyers on speed dial!'
This isn't the first time Olivia has been accused of copying other songs as previously her track Good 4 You was compared to Paramore's Misery Business and Olivia's Deja Vu to Taylor Swift's Cruel Summer.

The Christmas song was written by Olivia and she starred in a music video, which has already gained four million views, inspired by The Family Stone featuring Cynthia Nixon and Ben Marshall.
Her song was revealed to have heavily drawn inspiration from the 1980s band The Waitresses in relation to their 1981 holiday hit Christmas Wrapping.
It's reported that The Waitresses' founder and songwriter, Chris Butler, was written to by Olivia personally to share the song with him and was praised for picking up the 'vibe' of their past hit years later.
Butler insisted that there was 'no plagiarism'.
The Daily Mail has contacted Olivia and Robbie's representatives for comment.
In 2021, Taylor Swift was notably added to the credits of Olivia's song Deja Vu after fans noticed the chords resembled ones from the Taylor track Cruel Summer.
Afterwards, rumours began to arise that the duo had become embroiled in a feud with one another.
When asked about the alleged drama by Rolling Stone, Olivia said: 'I don't have beef with anyone. I'm very chill. I keep to myself.
'I have my four friends and my mom, and that's really the only people I talk to, ever. There's nothing to say.'
She also said she wasn't all that 'involved' in the songwriting credit matter: 'It's not something that I was super involved in.
'It was more team-on-team. So, I wouldn't be the best person to ask.'
Then, in 2023, Olivia addressed online speculation that she had written her song Vampire about Taylor.
'I was very surprised when people thought that,' she told The Guardian at the time.
'I never want to say who any of my songs are about. I've never done that before in my career and probably won't.
'I think it's better to not pigeonhole a song to being about this one thing.'

It comes after the Daily Mail revealed that Robbie pocketed a staggering £23.6million in profits in 2025, almost three times what he made the previous year, thanks to his blockbuster global Britpop tour.
Accounts filed at Companies House show the former Take That star, who is married to Ayda Field, enjoyed a huge surge in takings last year.
His live music company, You’re Not Famous LLP, reported a staggering £76.9million in turnover for 2025 – an increase of £64.8million on the £15million recorded in 2024.
Gross profit soared to £27.9million, up from £9million the year before.
Robbie himself was paid £23,686,646, while the accounts show a profit split of £27,882,003.
The company, which was incorporated in 2009, has now filed 17 sets of accounts at Companies House.
The eye-watering payday came after Robbie’s global stadium tour, which kicked off in Edinburgh in May 2025 and has gone on to rake in millions.
He also performed at the 2026 FIFA World Cup closing ceremony, where he went viral for accidentally dropping a mint from his mouth during a live broadcast.
Robbie took to the stage ahead of the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Laura Pausini.
And his fortune doesn’t stop there.
The Stoke-on-Trent-born star is now estimated to be worth around $300million and has also been building an impressive property empire with his wife, Ayda.
