Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns quietly slashes $100,000 from $1.3 million asking price of Sydney apartment after it fails to sell

Daniel Johns has quietly slashed the asking price on his Sydney investment apartment after the property failed to sell at its original guide.

The former Silverchair frontman, 47, is now seeking $1.2 million for the two-bedroom Darlinghurst apartment, after it was first listed with a $1.3m price guide last month.

Johns purchased the top-floor property in the landmark Riverina Flats building alongside his brother Heath in 2010 for $670,000.

The revised asking price is a $100,000 reduction as the singer-songwriter looks to tempt buyers in Sydney's competitive property market.

The Art Deco apartment, located on Palmer Street, boasts sweeping views across Sydney Harbour and the city skyline, with the listing highlighting its enviable position.

The home has been renovated while retaining its original character, with one of its standout features being a rooftop terrace overlooking the Sydney skyline.

The listing also promotes the apartment's privacy and sought-after location in one of Darlinghurst's most tightly held buildings.

The price adjustment comes just over a month after the property first hit the market, with the new price guide aimed at attracting fresh interest in the tightly held inner-city suburb.

Johns had previously rented out the home for $900 a week. 

The Tomorrow singer has let go of multiple properties of late, including bidding farewell to his 'dream' property on the NSW coast just three months ago. 

The vacant lot in Merewether, a prestige beach suburb 3km from the CBD of Newcastle, hit the market in May, with a $2.7m–$3m price guide. 

Johns appeared to be preparing to build a new pad on the site after demolishing his old five-bedroom home in 2025, which he purchased in 2000 for $1.4 million.

After dividing the cleared property into two lots, the hitmaker offloaded one of the blocks for $3.2 million last August, after it was on the market for just 24 days, the Newcastle Herald reported at the time.

According to the publication, the four-bedroom home next door to Johns' block sold for an impressive $3.7 million in July 2025.

The remaining 968 square metre property sits on high ground in a secluded cul-de-sac and boasts stunning ocean views, including Merewether Beach.
