Tearful Kylie Kelce Shares Past Miscarriage "Still Hurts"

Laura Vandervoort is detailing a heartbreaking personal loss.

The Smallville actress shared that she experienced a miscarriage in a devastating message to her baby alongside a photo of her pregnancy tests and sonograms.

“It’s been 2 months and nine days since we lost you,” Vandervoort wrote in a July 8 Instagram post. “And it still hurts. Miscarriage loss is a loss. A death that has no funeral and a life no one knew existed but a few.”

She explained that the experience was “traumatizing,” especially because her doctor informed her that her baby’s heart stopped “in front of an entire waiting room of people.”

“We move forward in the day to day activities, like nothing happened,” Vandervoort—who married Adam Coates in 2025—continued. “But something did happen… something life changing and devastating for us both. And it’s still heavy. You are never forgotten little one.”

Describing how challenging it has been to move forward, the 41-year-old admitted that it’s been painful to see other pregnancy announcements and photos while mourning her loss.

“Every week I know how far along I would have been,” she said. “Every pregnancy announcement stabs in ways I wish it wouldn’t. Every pregnant woman I see I wonder if that’s what I would have looked like.”

But in sharing her story, the Haven star hopes that it will help other parents feel more comfortable talking about pregnancy loss and the grief that comes with it, emphasizing, "It's incredibly common yet at the time we felt very isolated in the experience. Keep the conversations going.”

During this difficult time, several of Vandervoort’s former costars from throughout her career shared their condolences and support. Her fellow Smallville alum Kristin Kreuk wrote, “I am so sorry, Laura.”

Her Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire costar Charles Shaughnessy could empathize, opening up about his family’s experience with pregnancy loss.

“My heart broke for you both,” he commented. “We went through the exact same thing in the fourth month. It is a devastating loss and the grief is as deep and painful as any. We had our second girl about two years later and, in a very bizarre but comforting way, the one we lost was CLEARLY present at the birth. Sending you our love.”

Meanwhile, her See for Me costar Natalie Brown also chimed in, thanking Vandervoort for raising awareness about this experience. She wrote, “I admire and thank you for sharing your journey, your heart, and your pain, for those of us who’ve been there to feel less alone. There aren’t nearly enough resources or support… thank goodness for community, for sisterhood, for YOU.”
