Last week, South Park announced its new name: South America. This is a jab at Trump's attempt to rename geographical locations, such as the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario, to the Gulf of America and Lake America, and Google and Apple's willingness to comply by changing these terms on their maps. It seems that the town of South Park has suffered this same fate and will now be called South America instead.
A new teaser for the upcoming season has just been published across South America's social media pages, giving fans a first look at what's coming to the quiet little mountain town of South America.
Trump's questionable decisions have been the butt of many South Park jokes. While these jokes can be entertaining, many viewers feel like it's gotten old by now, and the creators need to focus on the main cast once again. The boys, Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny, as well as many other secondary characters, are what fans love about South Park. The show pivoting back to their daily shenanigans is what most have been asking for from this new season.
When the official South Park social media accounts announced the show's new name, fans were immediately concerned that this season would just be a rinse and repeat of the previous Trump-focused episodes. While the subject is expected to come up at some point — with the rebranding and all — the first episode's teaser suggests Trump might not be its primary focus.
South Park's first episode as South America will focus on e-bikes
It seems that e-bikes will be taking over South America in the first episode of the season. In the teaser, we can see Eric Cartman riding his e-bike outside of Stan's house. Cartman asks Stan to come outside and check out his bike, while the other boy looks surprised that Cartman's mom got him one. E-scooters have already caused enough problems in town, so it'll be interesting to see how the creators handle e-bikes in episode one, "South American Biker Gangs."
It is unknown how long the show will keep the name South America, but it is likely to remain unchanged until something in its plotline causes it to change. South America season 29 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 10 p.m. ET on Comedy Central. It becomes available the following day on Paramount+.
