Star Trek: Voyager has always been one of the most unique series in the franchise, introducing audiences to a Federation starship that's stranded tens of thousands of light-years from home with no immediate path back to Earth. Premiering in 1995, the series broke new ground with Captain Kathryn Janeway, the first woman to lead a Star Trek series as a central commanding officer, while its Delta Quadrant setting gave the writers freedom to introduce entirely new species, civilizations, and more.

Over seven seasons, Voyager became a defining part of the franchise through characters like Seven of Nine, The Doctor, Tuvok, and Chakotay, while stories involving the Borg, Species 8472, and the crew's long journey home remain some of the most iconic moments across the entire Star Trek universe.

Now, as Star Trek celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2026, Voyager's legacy continues to endure through returning characters, modern spin-offs, books, and now a brand-new release slated for this December (via Steam).

Star Trek: Voyager is making an official return with an upcoming expansion pass for Across the Unknown, with two new DLCs arriving this December for the beloved space-sim strategy game. The full expansion pass is available now on Steam for roughly $30 USD, which includes the currently available Delta Chronicles DLC that just released back in July, as well as the Equinox DLC coming later this month. This will introduce the U.S.S. Equinox as a playable ship in an exclusive in a "new upcoming game mode, along with new heroes, technologies, and more."

While information on the December DLC is currently a bit sparse, we do know the DLC 3 will feature "more missions, heroes, technologies and NPC ships," while DLC 4 "contains a whole new sector with a new storyline, missions, characters, NPC ships, and technologies." Neither of these have specific release dates outside the October to December release window, but more information is likely to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown is a story-driven survival strategy game that puts players directly in command of the U.S.S. Voyager during its dangerous journey through the Delta Quadrant. Developed by Gamexcite and published by Daedalic Entertainment, the game released earlier this year on February 18, and essentially lets fans rewrite the events of the television series through branching "What-If?" scenarios.

Players have to repair and expand the Voyager, manage dwindling resources and crew morale, research new technologies including potentially dangerous Borg advancements, and explore unfamiliar systems in search of supplies. Away missions require carefully selected crew members, while ship-to-ship combat involves assigning officers to battle stations, targeting enemy systems, and making tactical decisions from the bridge.

The game also features roguelike elements, so gameplay changes between playthroughs and even major characters can die prematurely. Tim Russ and Robert Duncan McNeill also return to voice Tuvok and Tom Paris for special mission logs, and overall it's well worth checking out if you're a longtime fan of Star Trek, especially the Voyagers era.
