Disney is doing everything it can to release as many Star Wars projects into the wild, as every medium from the silver screen to video games has been well and truly covered. In just the past few months, we've had The Mandalorian and Grogu and The Ninth Jedi, and in the next few months, we're getting the likes of Star Wars: Zero Company and Ahsoka season 2. This is without even mentioning the many 2027 projects like Star Wars: Starfighter.
Simply put, it is a good time to be a Star Wars fan, especially one with a lot of time on their hands and the capacity to be hyped about an abundance of varied projects. Among the many upcoming Star Wars projects is Galaxy at War, a new entry in a long-running series that is set to both onboard newcomers and cater to long-term fans. Those already invested in the series will be happy to hear about its arrival, and those who know nothing about it are soon to be immersed in one of the best Star Wars projects yet.
While the movies and TV shows make up the majority of Star Wars' most popular or at least better-known output, there are several major projects beyond them that not only deliver more compelling experiences, but also make more interesting use of the franchise's vast lore. This is, in large part, owing to these projects being unaffected by the restrictions seemingly placed on said movies and series, allowing them to explore elements that fans may be unfamiliar with or deliver new takes on old ideas.
One such project is Star Wars Unlimited, a TCG that utilizes all aspects of Star Wars' long history to deliver a compelling experience completely untethered to the rules that the franchise typically has to abide by. It combines heroes, villains, events, iconic ships, weapons, and more from across all eras in one package that is accessible to people of all skill levels. The numerous upcoming Star Wars: Unlimited sets, the aforementioned Galaxy at War included, are adding all of those and more to the game.
Galaxy at War is one of five new sets coming to what is often considered to be one of the best TCGs of all time in 2027. It is joined by the Legacy of Skywalker, Systems Overload, and two Icons sets (which are typically smaller and more focused on getting new people to start playing). So far, there aren't too many details on what the Galaxy at War set will include, beyond the fact that it is the last of the five upcoming expansions to be released in 2027.
However, fans can expect to see around 250 unique cards to be added in the Galaxy at War set, much like with previous booster sets. A specific date has yet to be announced for Galaxy at War, but it will likely be announced closer to launch. It will be made available through assorted packs and bundles via local game stores and online retailers. Newcomers to this amazing Star Wars game should absolutely check it out, something returning fans likely don't need reminding of, as they are assuredly already keeping tabs on its development.
