At the top of most watchlists must surely be Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle 2, the sequel to the highest-grossing anime movie of all time, which still does not have a confirmed release window. Meanwhile, One Piece has announced that its next movie will come out in the summer of 2027, and it will be the first direct tie-in with the official story of the manga and anime: One Piece Film: God Valley.

Eagle-eyed fans have spotted a potential specific release date for a 2027 anime movie that could be none other than Infinity Castle 2. Movie listing sites like The-Numbers.com list an untitled Crunchyroll/Sony Pictures film, slated for release on Sept. 15, 2027. Of course, Sony and its subsidiary Crunchyroll own the global distribution and streaming rights for the Demon Slayer franchise. Sony also sits on the anime's production committee through another one of its subsidiaries, Aniplex.

Is Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle 2 coming next September?

The listings for this unnamed movie do not mention Aniplex as the production company, just Sony Pictures. This could be a clue that the movie in question is not Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle 2. However, as Aniplex is a 100%-owned subsidiary of Sony, this could simply be a matter of terminology.

Another candidate for the Sept. 15 spot is One Piece Film: God Valley, due to its announced summer 2027 release date. However, One Piece movies are produced by Toei Animation, and the company is not mentioned in the listing. Still, Sony/Crunchyroll handles the distribution of the One Piece movies in North America, but notably not in France, which is the country mentioned in the listing.
