The Sims 4 July 1 patch notes – Glass walls, roof plants, collections changes, and more
The Sims 4's July 1 update has arrived just over a week before the game's latest expansion, Enchanted by Nature, is slated to launch. Since the expansion pack is all about nature, this base game update is following suit with some beautiful Build Mode additions. Although expansion packs have expanded our roof and wall panel options to include various woods and metals, this is the first time we've been able to plant bushes, grass, and flowers on our houses. You can also now make your house completely transparent using glass walls, making it much easier to customize modern houses or greenhouses without using large windows everywhere. Inventory management improvements Image via Maxis and Electronic Arts The first of several gameplay improvements in this update includes revamps to the game's inventory management system. You can now sort by New, Price, Crafted Quality, and Rarity within your Sim's personal inventory, fridges, bookcases, and other storage containers. Spoiled foods also now have a red background to differentiate them from regular objects. They'll now appear in a separate spoiled item stack, where you can open it, view the items, and throw them away as needed. Notebook and Collections changes Image via Maxis and Electronic Arts Two other UIs that received changes during this update are the in-game Notebook and Collections log. The notebook now features discovery badges for unseen resources, direct access buttons that allow you to view your Sim's stats more easily, and new category pages for various item types. The Collections log features similar changes to inventory management, letting you sort by Rarity, Name, Missing, and other categories that help you filter collectibles more easily. You can also sort collections by completion progress. Finding a new collectible will now animate your inventory icon, making it easier to tell if you found a new item while skilling or digging up rocks.
