The Witcher: Dawn Over Kovir Replaces Geralt As Our Hero

Despite first being released back in 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt still remains one of the most beloved RPGs of all time. Developed by CD Projekt RED as part of the ongoing franchise inspired by the books of author Andrzej Sapkowski, it is its most recent entry that saw the game series catapult itself into the spotlight. Then, thanks to the arrival of two hit DLCs, it is no wonder that many consider Wild Hunt to be one of the greatest games of all time.

Now, with another DLC on the way, titled Songs of the Past, as well as the news that the series would continue with The Witcher IV, it is an exciting time for fans despite it being over a decade since we received The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The Witcher 3: Dawn Over Kovir Gives Ciri The Starring Role

Dawn Over Kovir is a free-to-download mod for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which was born after its creator, Fandera, was inspired by the official The Witcher IV cinematic trailer. Adding a brand-new questline for Ciri, as well as a whole new region to explore, it follows the story of the young Wicher following the events of Wild Hunt.

"Fight. Make moral choices. Accept the consequences," the mod description reads. "Dawn over Kovir is a fan-made questline expansion for The Witcher 3, focused on Ciri after the events of the main game. While hunting monsters, the witcheress increasingly finds monsters not in forests, but among people. Disappointed in humanity, she balances between compassion and rage. Will Ciri be able to control her anger — or will she become a monster herself?"

Introducing brand-new regions - Kovir and Poviss, as well as over 1.5 hours of gameplay to enjoy, Dawn Over Kovir is not all when it comes to Fandera's ambition. This is because the modder has plans to continue building this mod, even adding "a new Geralt storyline, an expanded Kovir and Poviss location, improved quest design, localization, voice-over, and other significant enhancements."

Uploaded for the first time back in February, Dawn Over Kovir has already bagged itself over 2,000 unique downloads, showing just how much The Witcher fans want to return to the world originally created by CD Projekt RED. Not only that, but with many of us ready to see Ciri take up the mantle, this free download will be the perfect way to get a taste of it ahead of her official release.
