Transgender reality star is locked up in jail's vulnerable population unit after arrest for sexual battery against a child

Love And Hip Hop: New York star Sidney Starr has reportedly been moved to a new unit at the Fulton County Jail due to her gender identity.

The 37-year-old reality star (real name: Sidney Favors) was transferred to the vulnerable population unit of the Atlanta, Georgia, jail – which is designed to house its LGBTQ population – after she self-identified as a transgender woman, according to TMZ.

Starr was arrested on Sunday and booked on charges of sexual battery against a child under 16, aggravated child molestation, and sodomy – which does not apply to consensual situations – according to jail records.

The numerous felony offenses were allegedly 'related to an alleged sexual assault involving a juvenile.'

The Daily Mail has reached out to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office and a representative for Starr for comment but has not yet received a response.

Starr previously said in a statement to TMZ that she 'unequivocally denies the allegations against her and intends to vigorously defend herself through the legal process.'

'Allegations should not be mistaken for fact, and public opinion should never replace due process,' she added, before stressing that the crimes she's accused of should not be taken as an indictment of the wider transgender community.

Starr is alleged to have sodomized a minor during a stay at a hotel in Hapeville, Georgia. However, she denied that the interaction was anything but consensual, though the alleged victim was reportedly underage.

A representative for the Fulton County Sheriff's Office told TMZ that the reality star was assigned to the vulnerable population unit because 'Sidney identified as someone who engages in a particular lifestyle' while she was going through the standard intake process at the jail.

The spokesperson denied that Starr's housing assignment was related to the crimes she's accused of, and they added that she isn't under any additional security measures, and there aren't any extra restrictions on her conduct.

That's said to extend to her meals, how much she's allowed to exercise, her access to the showers and her ability to make and receive phone calls. 

She was arrested on August 2 after police conducted an investigation into an 'incident' at the Embassy Suites in Hapeville, Georgia, and remains in custody. 

In a statement obtained by The Daily Mail, the Hapeville Police Department refrained from sharing further details about the case due to the involvement of a juvenile. 

'On August 2, 2026, Officers with the Hapeville Police Department responded to an incident at 3450 International Blvd (Embassy Suites) in Hapeville, Georgia,' the release said. 

'As a result of the investigation, Sidney Favors (Sidney Starr), a reality television celebrity, was arrested and charged with multiple felony offenses related to an alleged sexual assault involving a juvenile. Favors was transported to the Fulton County Jail following the arrest. 

'Because this case involves a juvenile, no additional information will be released from our agency.

'The case has been referred to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.'

According to her Instagram, Starr was scheduled to host the Industry Girl reunion in nearby Atlanta.  

A reality star, Starr appeared on Love and Hip-Hop: New York, The Gworls Club, Girlfriends and Champagne, and Atlanta Plastic.

In 2021, she became the first transgender person to join the cast of a Bad Girls Club spin-off. 

Announcing she was joining Baddies ATL, she told followers: 'Im finally a Bad Girl Baddie! I’m The First Transgender Bad Girl cast member for The Baddies of Atl tv show! !! I’m proud to be with all the iconic Bad Girls! It’s LIt!' she announced back in 2021.  

She has also done acting, with appearances in The Chi, Empire, Boomerang, and Star. 

Starr was set to appear on small screens on the day she was arrested, with her episode of the Baddies reunion scheduled to air.

Starr also called for more transgender representation in the Baddies universe.
